Have petitioned macro miners twice in two days, same ones, same ice field. Once got a reply that it would be looked into if he got the chance...(wtf?)
Then I had the crazy notion... perhaps the GM's are in on it? Nah, couldn't be. But, nothing has been done, if anything it is increasing. I really wonder why it is not being addressed. Could they not have one or two GM's that do nothing but hunt these guys?
Bah, why should I care anyway, I'm not a miner. _______________________________________________

I agree I know too many people that petition them and they never get anything done to them its not rocket science to tell these guys are upto no good either, I don;t understand why its so hard for GM's too, maybe ccp need to change there internal policy on how to spot and detect macrominers because what they currently have is'nt working.
ORC is recruiting players now !! |

It take 10 mins to check on a bunch of 5-10 barges and hauler macro mining. They could spot it easy, look up the names see how long they play everyday, whatch for macro movements. Then ban them. 1 week of that and problem gone.

I'm new so I might be wrong, but my feeling is the economy might crash if all the macro miners went away, that is everything would get a lot more expensive.

Possibly, but then again, the prices of some minerals would go up, making mining lucrative again. _______________________________________________

The value of common minerals (and some of the rarer ones) has recently been in decline, which makes it less profitable for pilots like you and I to go mining.
However, macro-miners operate nearly 23/7, so mineral prices do not make a sizeable amount of difference for them.
Controversy exists as to how much of the recent economic fluctuations has been caused by the actions of macro-miners, but I think that if they're cleared out, then we might see the prices come back up, making mining a more profitable endeavor. __________

It's not that hard.
If they cant be sure a macro is used then they need to expand their EULA or TOS or whatever it is to disallow "farming"
Stick a tag on the characters petitioned. Come back 2 days later and find out they have been mining 23/7 = ban their asses.
CCP need to get serious and aggressive "soon"

Come on, lets give the GM's a break man. Lets just look through the forums at the number of people that have said that they've petitioned a macro miner and figure in 30 minutes for each petition(conservative estimate). Do you really think the GM's have that much time to devote to this??? While I have a problem with macro miners, in fact a group has just invaded my mining area, I'm not about to just throw out accusations towards GMs when it only takes common sense to realize that they get hundreds of petitions aday for macro miners.
Can we get a sticky thread devoted to Macro Miner discussion? I think 9-10 threads a day devoted to it is a bit much....

The devs could just introduce a 'bug' that deletes all retriever chars that have been created at [SWA] on 23. and 24. october between 2:15 and 3:45. That would clear up the ice belts in Jita for example.

It was fine before :). We used to have a lot of empire industrial corps. Now it's more profitable to do other things.

mmmm - well 2 options - wait for RMR then play can substitution and wait for pickup then blown em up with kill rights
Recent responses have been when we get time (they are busy) the GMs that is.
Otherwise once petitioned u can legally steal their ore disrupt them that way there are the suicide groups that are going after em.
Most of the kernite in kador has been leeched out by 3 active gruops syming18-23, members of royal horse guard, birdie20, darkamarrfighter, demonised, commander sun and quite a few others i have followed
Kothe, ipref/agil, aband, kahor are their main hangouts so if any ore theifs feel like playing the find and petition then steal ore its free kernite and its 5% and 10% yeild boosters

IN all honesty, yes it IS this simple.
If a char is online 20 hours a day (and actively receiveing commands all tha ttime) for 6 days a week, what does that mean ?
That the account is either shared, or macro'd.
Both are bannable offenses, so, yes, it IS that easy.

Ooooh You guys should all work for CCP you obviosly know best
Anywaz. I believe CCP have already stated what they intend to do namely get more staff now they are in larger offices and have dedicated people looking into this crap (I believe it Oveur???...Can't find the damm link )
All of this of course takes time - more time for more macro solution posts. Oh the joy!
End your whining people and just keep petitioning. You know it makes sense (almost).
Mote to self: Don't post on forums after having bad time at work. Makes /me grumpy er.....so and so

not taht i do it but since when is the sharing of accounts bannable - for example u live with 3 guys (1 works nightshift the other works say days the other is a uni student) now if u simply share the account around during quite times 6 hours each as long as u dont do anything else apart from play the game (ie no RL $$$ stuff) just playing the game is taht wrong via the EULA ?

Well, until CCP figures it out, I wonder if I shouldn't just develop an ALT character to start stealing ORE from cans.....
Shoot, might as well have a person who pays hard earned money and time in the game take the stuff, right??

If that's how the macro's work (dump ore into nearest can?) and they are unable to distinguish between the original container and the substituted container, then things will get *interesting*
à.I think enough of the player database would be active in the ensuing fun & games to drive macrominers out of the game
