OK. I have this drone and I have all this drone skill. How do I actually use the uncooperative thing to mine something?

First you need to tell us if it is a mining drone; small or medium drone; or heavy drone? You need drone skills first to fly any type of drones, then the other skill will be mining drone or combat drone skills. Afterwards, just lock on the target and launch them from your drone bay. If mining drones, hit mine repeatedly for continuous mining using your mouse.

to mine with a drone , make sure its in your ship drone bay , then go out find your roid and lock onto it . then right click ur ship and open drone bay , right click on drone and launch it . when the drone is out , there'll be a small window with ur drone list , right click on the drone and chose mine repeatedly. make sure u are still locked on the roid . the drone should now approach the roid u targetted and mine it , returning the ore to your cargo hold . (p.s its a good idea to click return and orbit and then scoop to dronebay if pirates show up , mining drones are fragile) -------------------------

Also, stay withing 1500m range from the asteroid your drone are. I think if you are not in this range, the drone will not come back to your ship. ____________________________________________

Actually, a Drone can mine up to 10,000 meters of a Roid, same distance as your Mining Laser. However, if Nasties show up - YOU HAVE TO BE within 1500 meters in order to scoop them to your Drone Bay. I have unfortunately, lost a few the HARD way. Just some FYI. Also - use 'right click - select all' if you have more than 1 Drone.

Drones need to travel back to your ship in order to put the mined ore into your cargo hold. Because of this, it's probably best to park you ship as close as possible to the roid to decrease this travel time and therefore allow your drones to effectively mine faster.

Coming back to the game after a couple months. So they've fixed mine repeatedly for drones then? I know there were quite a few people, including myself, who could not get that to work and would have to micro-manage their mining drones.

Yes mine repeatedly is fixed. You just sit there and jettison the ore till the roids goes *poof*

I find my mining drones are easiest to control if:
1) My ship is stationary 2) I am close to the roid
By doing those two things, the drones don't end up out of control range ... |
