i cannot beleave how some people whould behave...
so there i am yesterday....shooting a swarm of 30k rats. several cans ready to be looted.
then this knob jockey warps in....flying a sodding indy (so he ante there to fight is he) im thinking give him a few secs to move on.... he can see im here.... but no he flys to a can... im like OI dude that ante wise. the can goes pooooffffff. im like OI NO WAY BACK OFF. but alass no... i watch him fly towards the next can....
so i made several comments on Local and also tried to chat this bloke direct. no luck....
sod it..... converge on his loco. get a lock...hit warp scramble. (bollix i tend to target lock cans so i can navigate quicker when collecting and warped the effing can) this bloke warps out in his indy.
im effing fuming. blokes name was "Orke Te" or summit real simular from corp excellent stratergists.
i had to log..so placed a KOS on this chap. come back hour later... reports that this bloke was seen exiting the sys in a pod..... but it wasnt one of our corp.... so he obviously tried to steal from someone who knows how to use a warp scambler.
Orke Te...... do your self a few favours. 1. stay the hell away from me....... 2. DONT nick peoples cans.
you will die each and every time i see you.

Yeah, stealing ore without saying a word is bang out of order...
I prefer to introduce myself, then hold it to ransom..
Heads down for the 'use secure cans' army .

I don't think you can get npc's to drop loot in secure cans Drunkenmaster

And even if you could it would be bloody inconvenient.
Seems pretty stupid to steal from cans in a system where people can shoot at you. ----------------------- Cold Fusion Inc. Website |

Ok, my bad. I wasn't paying attention (supposed to be working)
It does seem a bit daft to steal cans from someone who is built for the fastest destruction they can manage...
best solution in this situation, depending on security, would be to web him (twice, ideally) and move the opposite side of him to the spawn. He will be the one targetted and fired on, and you can carry on as before.

When I'm out hunting and someone I don't know jumps in with a ship like an indy or small fast frigate, I usually give one warning in local. If they keep moving towards my can.... well one way or another they never make it to the can. Either they're smart and they warp out with their ship, or they're dumb and warp out in a pod... I usually don't pod people like that. I get peace of mind knowing they have a LONG trip home.

Lo chaps...
im not compaling these things happen...i dont got a carebare hat on....
i was more annoyed at the gual faced barearseness of it.
now my quetion is more on ethics. i gave this chap two heads up in Local and he blocked my attempt at direct chat. he took not 1 but 2 cans.
speaking eithicaly... am i well within my rights to rip this bloke a new A-Hole ? how many times can i kill him ? (no podding just taking ship out)
if he wrongs me a second time.. can i then step up to podding ?
if it wasnt for the fack that the "Eustus Brothers" was on the telly i would have chased him all over the uni.....

For once drunken has a good point, let the npc's take out his ship. I will have to remember that one. Web, warp scramble, then move to opposite side of spawn to get the cargo thief targeted by the npc's. They do all the work for you. I am going to have to start bringing warp scramblers with me. SNIGG is now officially open for business. We are a merc corp looking for contracts. For more info click below http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=68313 |

Nice idea, but the cops will **** all over your parade if your in high sec space, warp scrambling and webbing are offensive actions. And if your in low sec space just shoot him. -----

Depends where you are. Under 0.5 space, one warning is enough. Whoever has the bigger guns is the law. Stealing is against the law. Taking someone's loot cans is piracy no matter how you look at it. Losing his ship might teach him a valuable lesson.

In 0.0 don't warn them - just shoot them. Anyone out in 0.0 with an indy grabbing cans which don't belong to them won't take any notice of a warning anyway.

no!! u guys have got this all wrong, let him "live".
This guy has got balls like mellons.
let me get this rite, he basically steals rite in front of your noses, when you are rigged out to kill 30k cruisers in a 0.0sys, and he is in a crappy cruiser, i love this guy, omg.
His timing must be great to catch you out like this though, how many times does he warp into a belt and the npc cruisers are stil there??, like i say MELLONS. EVE Marshals, you need to recruit him not kill him.

I had a similar problem with a can theif at a spawn, killing 20k rats. I fired 1 warning shot against his frigate expecting him to run, he didnw run and unleashed everything he had on my Thorax, needless to say he was a shiny golden egg in seconds and trash talking in local.
Screwed my sec rating up a bit but I got it back killing more pirates.

I had a similar thing happen it was g3gr from space invaders corp. I was mining omber with a mate in a 0.7 system we had just mined 80,000omber and he just flew up in an indy and took it all. So we tracked him down he hadnt left the system and a few more of my corp came to help so we blocked all gates so he couldnt get away. In the end i got really p*ssed off and there was 2 bug eggs from his corp floating outside so i shot them and killed one and gave myself a bad sec rating. And before u say i should have had a secure can it was before we had them. :( --- Allah be praised |

Good old Rancid was following EVE Marshal protocol. Though he told me late that it was an Indy . If I would have know that, there would be no doubt in my mind what he was up to.
