We have Harvesters, and a couple of Basics; but we are looking at our next step, what drones should we be looking to get?
The harvesters are 100m3 and the basic is 50m3 so we can get 2 harvesters and a basic in the drone bay of our MOAs, but we plan to buy an Armageddon and a Maller in the morning so not sure what the drone bay is in those ships. While I think they are larger, that would mean I can probably run 4 drones of harvesters since my skill level is only at 4.
But is there a drone that is better than a harvester, maybe weighs more, where I can utilize the extra drone space on the new ships, yet stick to my lvl4 of drones right now. I am going to move to lvl5 drones, but that is not on my agenda for another 2 weeks. In the meantime, I am trying to find out if 4 harvesters is how I should be going, or if there is a better drone that I should go buy.

Harvesters are the best mining drone. 2500 drone bay on the armageddon.

There is a mining drone called Miner Elite. It is very rare but I have seen it. The Miner Elite only takes up 50m3 of space, but the output is the same as the Harvester---30m3 per minute.

its 30 but with mining drone operations it may show a different value. |

Harvesters are 30m3/minute. As harvesters are 100m3, elite ones are better, but ultra rare and most people have large enough drone bays anyway .
for some people with small drone bays, but high drone skill, advanced drones are a good deal, they mine 20m3/minute and are 50m3.
If you are mining ark or bistot, advanced drones are equal to harvesters anyway.
P.S.: Either im bugged, or mining drone operation does not add to the yield. From my experience the skill seems to shorten the time they mine till they are full/come back.

Didn't realize that the Maller was not going to give me a drone bay, but thanks for all the comments about the Elite. I guess Harvesters are it for now then in the MOAs and the Armageddon.

armageddon has 2500 drone bay, so stay with harvestor, you don't need elite for less m3.

Gallente cruisers are good for mining, esp. if you want to use drones. If you're looking for something in between what you have now and the battleship.
In my opinion, battleship = cruiser x 1.5 when it comes to mining, but it's = cruiser x 20 when it comes to cost. Not very efficient, at least from my point of view. However, cost isn't a factor for some people, so.... |

I got elites.... And... I can't use them anywhere but in 1.0 systems because they are so bloody rare. Even there I still use harvies anyway

I suppose it depends on your ship's drones space and your skills.
I have an Omen which has a limited drone space of 300 m3. This means I can carry just 3 Harvesters producing 90 ore per min total.
Alternatively I can fit 4 improved drones and 2 advanced drones which gives me 130 ore per min total.
Many class the Arbitrator as the best Amarr mining ship as it has the most drone space however you actually have to control 9 Harvester drones before it outperforms the Omen.

Could be very nice with new Mining Drones in next update 
And if +5% minig skill for drones would work, that would be huge bonus too
