Hey all,
I was wondering if someone could enlighten me about the mechanics for grouped guns with regards to their probability of hitting targets. For the sake of this post please presume I am flying a 1400mm Malestrom (8x guns);
Question:
I were to attempt to engage a smaller target, for example a cruiser or stealth bomber, is the hit percentage calculated once, or multiple times and the sum of damage for each success collated?
I fire all 8 guns grouped. Individually each one has a probability of hitting of 75%.
Option 1. The percentage is calculated once. 75% every single gun will hit, 25% every single gun will miss.
Option 2. The percentage is calculated x8. I hit the target with approximately 75% of my total alpha.
Could someone tell me which one it is, and following on from that, and working on the premise that the same applies to any sized ship guns when grouped, when engaging smaller targets with low EHPs is it better to keep weapons grouped, or un-grouped?
Thanks in advance. |

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but grouping makes all your "like" items behave as one item; they only have one calculation.
EDIT; Or it's the mean (Average) damage. "Man, you aren't actually trying to do this, right? Nobody is that stupid right?"

I never group all my guns, I think it's a bit overkill.
Prefer to start firing on the next target as soon as the 1st target is destroyed. |

Seems like a good question and seems like you haven't got a good answer yet.
What experiment can we use to figure this out ourselves ? Can we use "Accessories" , "Log" , to fire on say a npc construction in a mission ? I will try it ....watching this post and if i get results worth your time i will post them. |
