i think the players sec-hit should be affected by the targets sec-status...
so like if a guy with -10 i secstatus gets poped it should be sechit - 10
so killing him allmost allmost nullifies the sec-hit
same with if you gank a guy with + 10 (you cant get it anymore i know) it should be sec-hit + 10
killing him and you have to PvE for awhile
i know 10 is way to much... its just an example...
and it migth make the gap between goodguy and badguy to big
and i know "if its not broken dont fix it"
just brainstorming here ____________ The cargo bay is overloaded and cannot be made to fit Expanded Cargohold I. It is currently only capable of fitting 8772.12 units and it is currently jammed full with 9558.33 units. |

I think anything after +5 and -5 are good enough to differentiate between bad guy, good guy. ----------------

No thanks. That's a stupid idea.
People under -5 are either: a) very quickly on thier way to -10 b) slowly on their way back up
So wth is the point in making it 'count more' against them.

if they kill some badguys they get their sec back faster...

well... you said "so like if a guy with -10 i secstatus gets poped it should be sechit - 10 -- so killing him allmost allmost nullifies the sec-hit"
"almost nullifies the sec-hit" doesn't mean "gives plus sec" lol
anyway, getting plus sec for killing outlaws is also a terrible terrible idea. mainly because i'm an outlaw.

The problem with this idea is that it is open to exploitation by players. if you are -10 and want to get your sec back up you can simply get an alt to -10 and pod it over and over and you will, over time get your sec back up faster than NPCing. I do think it used to be this way, but then people took advantage of it. perhaps there should be a system where your sec will only be adjusted the first time you pop a guy, and if youpop the same guy again, it will be null and void... maybe?

No thats a silly idea, the system is fine as it is! When someone develops a reputation for themselves there shouldn't be any 'quick-fix'. It should be a long gradual process, just the way it is... After all, would you call a criminal in real life a reformed man after a day in jail?! Give him 20 years, a whispy beard and a distant look of despair and i just might trust him again...

system is fine, you pirates knew the score when you started pirating, you cant have your cake and eat it too you know.
you wanted to be a criminal? a killer?
this is the price you pay............

I think some of you misunderstood the OP. Basicly, if you kill someone who's -4.9, you don't take much of a sec hit, as it's close to -5. If you kill a +5 tho, you'll take more of a sec than if you kill a guy with 0.0 sec.
I've thought about the same myself, just never got around making a thread about it.

Agreed, some implementation of this would be cool.
And why cant you have your cake and eat it? Cake is pretty damn pointless otherwise isnt it

Obviously if the pilot you kill is -5 then theres no sec hit if it went something along the line of if the person you kill is sec status
-4.9 to -4 you only take 20% of the current sec hit -3.9 to -3 40% -2.9 to -2 60% -1.9 to -1 80% -0.0 to + 0.9 100% +1 to +1.9 120% +2 to +2.9 140% +3 to +3.9 160% +4 to +4.9 180% and + 5 or greater you take 200% of current sec hit. as someone below pointed out once a pilot get to +5 or below -5 then its prettay safe to assume they are good and bad people respectively.
If it werent exploitable I would go for taking a sec gain for killing -5 and lower pirates as this would people looking to boos their sec an incentive to go kill ebil pirates. I can just imagine the people wanting to clear their name heaing round systems like Amammake and the like looking for targets. Would be funny. (\ _ (O /) o) . <) (> I cut up teh bunneh too. |

Well, the best way is to not pirate and get your sec to 5, and then pirate in 0.0 and thus, always keep the high sec status, since you only loose sec in 0.4-0.1 systems. ------------ Criminal EVE Guides Evil Genius 101 Guide |

And, if you don't pod, you only lose -.2 or so every time you blow up a ship.

It's entirely possible I'm misunderstanding you here, but...
You don't take a sec hit for shooting at, destroying, or podding anybody who is -10 to begin with.
