Louis Catcher wrote:Hey there,
After the patch this thursday (07/11) the launcher worked excellent... Untill today, I played some and all of a sudden I get these common "mac" freezes. When trying to log back on the launcher dont launch the game! I log in, press play and then it just quits.
Anyone got similar problem, or a solution?
Thanks for the help.

I'm having a similar issue. I'm running OS X 10.6.8, on a case sensitive volume. I had a work-around that lasted for a long time, creating a case-insensitive sparse bundle image, installing eve into that, and then creating a link to it from the Dock. This last update decided it wants to write to:
/users/username/library/application support/eve online/repair_download_cache/tmp88cbnz_4.datapile
It lowercases everything even though earlier up in the logs it says:
Cache folder: "/Users/paul/Library/Application Support/EVE Online/repair_download_cache"
NOTE: I have replaced arrow characters(> and <) with < and > because I get the error "The input cannot contain HTML". It seems fine when it's "greater than" followed by "less than", but the other way around, it thinks it's a hacking attempt.
EDIT: Downloading the latest version of the game did not fix anything. It still wants to download the launcher update and "patch" my game. I literally CAN NOT play the game. I'm definitely going to ask for some kind of reimbursement here.

I'm running 10.5.8 as well and to date I have paid money to Eve and I have been able to enjoy a lovely game in exchange. Your new launcher update has changed that relationship. I guess from this answer my best option is to suspend payment to Eve until I upgrade my system. |

Been having similar issues, after the game crashes and I need to re-launch the launcher doesn't appear to do anything when this happens it looks like theres a crashed process called "wineserver". Manually terminating this and relaunching seems to do the trick, but its very annoying. I've ran a repair, cleared caches but the problem still exists.
The new launcher also seems to of broke the ability to multi-box on OS X, when launching the second instance it always use the settings from the first instance of EVE - rather than giving you 2 separate instances.

For guys who are failing updates on case-sensitive filesystems:
I have a post about this issue: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=261129
As GM Karidor has stated, they are not going to support case-sensitive filesystems. Installing EVE on a case-insensitive volume is no longer a workaround as the latest launcher updater tries to access the home directory (with no luck).
Supporting case-sensitive paths is one thing that a developer should always take for granted, there's no reason failing to supporting such essential stuff. It's such a shame that the people who wrote the Python scripts does not care about UNIX systems, which are usually shipped with case-sensitive filesystems. If it was a joke, it would indeed be a very funny one. |

Similar problem for me, when I try to run eve from launcher I can see the game window but completely black, without char selection. I tried to reinstall the game, and delete the "com.transgaming.EVEOnline" and "com.ccpgames.eveonline.savedState" from library but nothing to do. Everything worked until this morning, then it was freezed and no longer worked. |

yeah, it's been over a week since I've been able to play and I get the whole "oh, things are **** on mac for a while after a new patch comes out" but seriously if you're going to offer the game for an operating system then at least respect the players that are paying to use it on that system... I've subscribed for years and my total downtime since starting is up to months all together at this point, right now I think I actually expect to get something back for this time around, especially since there's still no fix, no answers and nobody even paying attention to this problem. |

Console entries: launcher: EVE Online Error com.apple.launchd.peruser.501: ([0x0-0x3d03d].com.ccpgames.eveonline[1416]) Exited with code: 255
Any news on this CCP?

This Exactly, Unlike windows PCs Mac last and run very well even on older OSs, and can still have the processing speed and video card to keep up with EVE. so it sadens me that you cut out all your slightly older Mac OS users. my accounts have been suspended as it will be quite ahile till i upgrade my OS |

Bump, anyone have a fix that allows me to dual box again without "upgrading" my OS?

Hey you know what's awesome? It's been weeks now, I've done everything recommended, I've deleted and reinstalled several times, got rid of everything over and over, and guess what? Eh I'm sure you already know the answer, NOTHING WORKS! I'd rather just have a game never updated or patched that just frigging worked than one that breaks for weeks with nobody bothering to pay attention or fixing it, I'd like time back for this because a day or two, I get that, but this is beyond ridiculous, how about someone that actually works at ccp respond with the fix already, because wtf. |

I could understand if they had added something new that requires a better system. After all, the machines that were around in 2003 when this game launched sure cannot still play it.
But they haven't added any new capabilities. They haven't changed the game... they just broke the launcher... a launcher I don't even understand why we have.
Don't tell me that my 2009 machine is not capable of running the launcher, when it still runs the game...
Yes, we can still launch and run the game.... so its not as if the game no longer works with the older OS.
They just changed the launcher, adding zero functionality ( I don't miss the launcher one bit actually), the only change... I can't dual box anymore....
I'm transferring all assets out of my 2nd account, and letting it lapse until this is resolved |

I wish that worked for me, but even if I go around the launcher, at first it worked, then it tells me I need a patch then goes right to restarting with the launcher, there is no way around this problem. and after deleting and reinstalling everything, even going straight through the app without using the launcher, it no longer works. yay ccp, you messed things up for apparently no reason whatsoever. please get your crap together because this is getting really tiresome. |

What worked for me was downloading the eve online repair tool, this allows me to patch eve without doing a new instal (although it sounds like that doesn't work... is is possible that new installs are broke, but "fixed" old installs can keep chugging along?).
However, there's no more dual boxing, and thus my other account has lapsed -especially since I was training it as an OGB, and that got nerfed hard too, while the command ships also have generally seen a nerf to DPS, so I can't even use it to run lvl4s as well while my main is out waiting to do what it does. |

So since the Odyssey update all my in game swatches are pixelated out such as in this picture here http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr58/Flux_Pics/Screenshot2013-06-10at65908PM.png
It is everything in markets etc and so annoying. I sent a bug report TWICE at the time and received no reply at all as to why this is happening now?
So today I decided to delete the client files and re download the client and install it again in hope it would fix this problem. So I did that and installed it. Then I go to launch it and it says its removing old files and re-installing the one's required for the new launcher.
So here I am trying to get it to work on my iMac 10.6.8 for the second wipe and re-install, and getting this over and over.

Man I feel your pain... and short from buying a new laptop I was wondering if anyone tried VMFusion? Yes you'd have to get Windows 7 installed on it but I wanted to see if anyone tried that. I've tried Parallels and Eve works but will not take advantage of both graphics cards I have on my 2011 Macbook Pro 17. Parellels is not really for games like Eve. So I was wondering if anyone tried running Eve on VMFusion/?
Thx... |
