Currently you can't invest isk in a corporation because nobody is actually using the shares system as it was intended. THe point of shares was that eve would aquire a stock market so that corporations could raise money by selling their shares on the open market (although as shares are a physical object this would end up involving people having to pick the things up at some point, a virtual shares system would be infinatly preffereable like the existing stock market in real life) with share value increasing with demand and value of the corporation. However there is no way to actually calculate value of a corporation reliably so shares don't get used. Also I am yet to hear of a corporationthat actually pays out dividends to either it's members or it's shareholders.
The system as is just plain doesn't work with how corporations are being used in Eve.

Speak to morbor or Spartan II in game they have an investment scheme going and i guarantee the results are great. very professional guy and not a con man i assure you. made 5 million from nothing with this guy....... convo me in game if you need more info on it.

Our corporation sells shares to members, and gives dividends. However, with the lack of admin tools for corporations, it is very hard to do much more than this...
We have to manually calculate the corporation's assets to determine stock price. Not every item from every hanger is calculated, so, the price is inaccurate. It's also not very flexible, because the price only changes when we have time to calculate it.
Also, our corp has to keep a seperate database of stock holders as there isn't one in-game.
So, with these problems and others, it's hard to get some of our members involved in stocks. The sad thing is, stocks are the one thing that can get members to invest in a corp without having to feel cheated of their efforts by not having something to show for it.
So, if corporations can create a few things outside of the game to compensate for the lack of tools ingame, then stocks can be a very good way to invest in the long term.

I'd like to see the availabity of stocks soon also. The thought of being able to engineer trades and hostile takeovers is very exciting.
