Edited by: Natas Liah on 08/12/2005 13:35:56 Every single afternoon within a few hours of downtime ending i am dropped from EVE, it only happens once, and not at the exact same time every day, but its always within a few hours of downtime ending.
Things to note, i have more than 1 EVE account running between a couple pcs, its not all my accounts that gets dropped, only one of them and it happens every afternoon without fail, after being booted it lets me log straight back in (unless i get the entering space at login screen bug)
I think this isnt all happening just by chance, the rest of the day is fine, its only within a couple hours after end of DT that one of my EVEs will get booted back to login screen, then its fine until the next day.
I know this is going to get me killed at some point, should i be restricted to just not playing EVE in the afternoon because i know ill get dropped at some point?

1. Wireless? 2. Somebody hogging your bandwidth? 3. Sometimes, when some process (a routing, a server, etc.) between CCP and you may get so busy that the client is sensitive to constant data loss, I think the client has a fail-safe mechanism to terminate itself to prevent unnecessary player "afks" that can result in somebody waking up in a station or a pod. As long as it isnt CTD every time between 0 mins to 20 mins, I think it is OK.

random Crash to desktops are common - peak times and heavy loads on some nodes can lead to a higher incidence - a bad hotfix - depends what system youe in if youre in jita or another 200+ player system the chances of CTD go up by 500% i have found - if youre on a quite node or out in low sec - 0.0 and away from any blobs then generally it works out much much less.

Reread what i said, i dont CTD, i never CTD, once day within a few hours of downtime ending i will get booted back to the eve login screen, ONCE, and only once, then it doesnt happen again for another 24 or so hours, after the next downtime, im in a very dead area, no players around, nowhere near jita.
Next time read the content, not just the title, if you did read the content then read it properly.

could be youre ISP or the connecton between u and CCP (US ISPs have been having a lot of bulk disconnections between CCP eve servers) at one poitn 6000 plyaers from the US were disconnected from eve for 4 hours. So wasnt CCPs fault
Also for various reasons if pink problems in between arise or even other non CCP itnernet issues arisie the failsafe mechanism kicks in and u are CTD'd just get used to it part of the internet. Insure youre ship dont use what u cant afford to loose avoid blob wars and high activity systems like jita and u will suffer much less. (ive tested this myself i live almost in low sec or quite high sec regions because of this issue_

Again go reread what i said, i have a couple of EVE clients logged in, and only one of them ever gets booted to login screen, and its always a random one, if this was a problem with my isp or a connection between here and CCP then i'd most likely get booted on all clients.

well i thought being booted out of the game back to the login screen was a ctd - lets call it a ctl (crash to login screen then) when i crash back to desktop i get the login screen back up to. Stop abusing everyone CCP wont be offering an explanation its part of the game ive explained what the problem is and potential sources. Can we have a Lock put on this thread by a moderator before the original poster turns this into a flame thread

Firstly I would lose the "attitude" ... you posting on a public forum .... expect some whit and humour .......
As to you problem ............
Account A, crashes on Computer A and Account B on Computer B is fine ....
Have you tried Account A on Computer B and Account B on Computer A ... does it do the same thing

I got 2 pcs and i kill npcs, being booted like this is going to cost me my ship soon enough, what am i to do, sit in a station? perhaps not even bother logging in?
I think you'll find CCP have had problems with nodes running at 100% cpu recently, when at 100% cpu, they tend to disconnect people from EVE, this happens until CCP stops new connections to the node and gets the cpu rate down a little, im wondering if this is anything to do with it and why it only happens in early afternoon (it doesn't happen for the rest of the day because they get on it and fix it perhaps)

perhaps its youre PC - memory internet data mixup between if u run off 1 PC over one connection
We have only tried to help im not quite sure what sort of response u are after mr alt - is it a response from CCP to say u will never get a crash to desktop (i have noticed to aorund the same time and increased prepensity for Ctds) guess its something to do with 3-5 hour period after dt.
Or are u just after a good flamebait thread ive stated and said all i need to i think so far unless other technical issues on subject are rboguht up - devs wont respond here - ISD may lock it.

well the 100% CPU issue i dont think happens to often
Old saying in eve dont use what u cant afford to loose - simply put try not to NPC with such expensive modules if u use em. Try to build up a ISK and asset base to cover future losses - petitions work 20% of the tiem if its an issue at CCP end. If u were to use it could u use something else until u recovered. Do some mining production join a 0.0 alliacne take a friend to help cover.
All possible solutions unless u are someont that uses a factional battleship and all factional modules and the most expensive tech 2 modules and at the same time has all +5 mplants and the most expensive other implants and then goes solo NPCIng in hostile enemy territory or just friendly territory as well - then leaves eve when they loose the lot to a one off ctd.

I used to have the exact same problem. Crash to desktop, every day, at the same time. You only THINK you crash to the login screen because you have "Reboot client on disconnect" checked. Still, it's very annoying, I agree.
There was a few things I tried, until I could figure out exactly what the problem was.
Once I figured it out, it was a very simple fix, and it hasn't happened since.
Here's the best part, though: You've been a complete jerk in this thread. Hostile to people for no reason, even though they're trying to help you, or lighten the situation by being witty and humorous.
So...even though I know exactly what the problem is, exactly how to fix it, and could tell you the solution in far less text than I've already used, I won't.
Next time, be a nicer person when you're asking for help.

Sorry but im just a little peeved as it is, this has been happening to me every day for over a week now, some of the people replying to the thread are either trolls with nothing to add atall, or they didnt read what i said and i have to spend ages trying to explain what i mean across.
Its always within a few hours of dt ending only happens to 1 of the clients and its always random only happens once and then its fine until the next dt im in a very low traffic area of eve my comp/connection are very stable, as you can see i dont have any problems other than this 1 random kick from game after DT.

Did you have some program active in backup? did you have a memory dump, did your hard disk work a lot at this moment how much load on you hd? he had to clean the cache? did you use a disk maintenance, lots of fragment on the HD? You have the error log on the computer, did he give you some information? Antiviral activity?

Maybe you dont understand the diffrence between a CTD and getting disconnected.
CTD = your game client crashes due to some kind of error.
do you know why its called "reboot client on disconnect"? Because you get disconnected, and it reboots the client, thats the diffrence between being disconnected and being crashed to desktop by some fatal bug.

No to all of that, heres what happens, EVE is running fine, then all of a sudden it lags out, the client is still running and im still able to click to move or whatever but since its lagged out nothing happens, then about 1 minute later the client goes back to the login screen.

You will find theres a lot of people who either run more than 1 account on the same computer at the same time or on 2 different computers on the same connection at the same time without any problem. This would suggest its something local or specific to you. Something happen in your house near the cable or computer about that time each day might cause interference or power surges?
Have you tried running the log server and conacting support about it. Over on the left theres a button labelled ask a question they do answer fairly quickly.

Do you leave that account/comp AFK for a while at that particular time near DT?
Whenever I leave one of my accounts with out doing anything for a while it crashes to login screen. I guess CCP trys to keep the bandiwdth clear and kicks afk'ers.
Just saying maybe you have a routine like eating/watchin tv at that time for an hour or so?
