I downloaded the TankCEO pirating video a while ago and recently dug it up again. I was wondering if the setup shown in it is useful:
4x 425mm Railguns 4x Cruise Missile Launcher
xLarge Shield Booster Shield Boost Amplifier EM and Thermal Hardeners Warp Disruptor AB (he used mwd i think but was probably pre nerf)
Guessing a mix of PDS and BCS
Heavy Drones.

It might work, but your DPS would be very low. Also, the railguns would have crap damage becausee youd have no damage mods/tracking enhancers.

No bonus on the railguns and not much room for damage mods, so I would suggest no - specialise and probably around missiles as the Raven has 6 missile launcher slots. Tank's video was probably made before tracking changes to guns as well, which made a massive change.
Fit mid slots first. For solo piracy, you need to prevent a warp out, so you need to get within 20km fast - so AB or MWD is essential. After that, I would use EW over a shield tank- Jammers or Dampeners and then of course some Warp disruptors.
After that, it comes down to what you want in your low slots (tank? or gank) and then fit high slots. Sieges are ok, but hard to fit with your PG. Personally I would prefer Cruise launchers with NOS. Course, you could just go with a Burn Eden set up and support! PK

An amusing Raven setup I was using on sisi last night:
6x 'Arbalest' Siege (Whatever) 2x 425mm Prototype Rail (Iron)
2x Sensor Booster II 2x Tracking Computer II 2x Sensor Dampner
4x BCU II 1x PDU II
Works surprisingly well as: a) With my skills, I was locking and hitting upto 160km b) Noone expects a Raven to lock at 160km, let alone be hit by one c) There is about 25s before your missiles hit your target, then a constant stream of damage every 1.5s
Pitfalls are the obviously non-existant tank, and the pityful damage of 425's with Lead and no damage mods (was getting ~60 dmg). But, cruises were hitting for 400-600, and a constant stream of the 8.2s ROF. Drones can protect against any tackling frigates. And tbh, the only real threat came from other 'long range' BS', and a frigate that I ignored.

I believe the setup mentioned up top was suggested as a possible way of turning a Raven into a gate sniping vessel, much like the long range gun setups that you see doing the same job. It came out when Cruise missiles were given a speed boost as a "what if" kinda deal I believe.

Try this setup. It works on SISI right now
6x Cruise Launcher II 2x Large Smart Bomb (kill drones and ceptors)
1x 100mn MWD II 1x 20km warp disruptor 4x Capac Recharger II
1x Large Armor Rep II 4x Cap Pwr Rly
Enough capac recharge to run 100mn mwd and rep sustained. Will do 1200m/s. It kills other bs and works in fleet style crap... can rip in and out of range when it takes dmg.

The setup you've seen in Tank's video was 4 Railguns and 4 Heavy missile launcher, back in the old days they could launch cruise missiles and torps. He also used 1 mwd 1xl sb em & heat hardeners, an amplifier, a warp disruptor and 5 capacitor power relays.
This setup is not *possible* anymore.

I too have tried fooling around with rails on a Raven. However, my limited skills prevent me from using optimal setups.
Fitting 4 425mm's is tough, unless you have a high level of advanced weapon upgrades, or you're willing to sacrifice alot of low slots for power diagnostics.
Has anyone tried a 4x dual 250 and 4x siege short range gank setup? I wonder if that'll work with high skill pilots.

my current fav raven setup:
6x Seige 2x NOS 4x Sensor Damps 1x Sensor Booster 1xWarp Disrupter (preferably a faction one) 4x WCS 1xMedium rep II
works very good for taking out pretty much anything and getting out intact
