So I'm sitting here trying to decide what to fit to an executioner I just bought. The entire purpose of this ship is to salvage the belt rats my drones destroy while I'm mining. I liked the executioner because of the large number of high slots and the speed... quicker to get into range, quicker to salvage (assuming in my noobness I didn't miscalculate the number of salvagers that my powergrid/cpu can actually sustain).
So, assuming my ship can handle fitting four salvagers, I've got my highs covered... but I can't for the life of me figure out what I want in my mids and lows, other than some sort of propulsion boost. What would you stick in there? |

I'd say you'd probably want an afterburner, cargo expanders, salvage rigs and maybe some shield tank. Also take a look at the Tormentor, it has a much larger cargo bay. Oh god. |

Laurana, I think that you are much better off by using a destroyer for this application. They have a bigger capacitor/cargohold, more highs to use salvagers/tractor beams and can still be very nimble.
The two destroyers commonly used for the job is the Cormorant and the Catalyst. If you have to fly Amarr though, this might also do the trick:
[Coercer, Salvager]
Capacitor Power Relay II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II
Cap Recharger II Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
Salvager I Salvager I Salvager I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I
Small Salvage Tackle I Small Salvage Tackle I Small Salvage Tackle I
Hope that helps, cheers...C: |

Use one or two salvage drones instead of 5 combat drones on your mining ship (I assume retriever). Life is short and dinner time is chancy Eat dessert first! |

The scanning frigates (Probe etc) have a salvager cycle time bonus which is worth considering. |

Given the time on belt, and assuming you don't care about loot, just bring along salvage drones, even just one. You're not constantly being harried by rats, so you can afford to pop them out for a time. Filling the hold on pretty much any mining barge is more than enough time for a drone to do its job on a handful of wrecks.
My Mackinaw, for example, carries 5 Warriors, 2 salvage drones, and 3 mining drones. Everything is covered.
If you're absolutely hellbent on doing it this way, Bertrand Butler is correct: use a destroyer. |
