I must be doing something wrong. I know im new to eve and pirating but finding victims is hard ( for me anyways ).
Why would a miner goto a asteroid field in space below 0.5 with out any protection if theres npc rats in their too.
i dont get it. Any advice would be apprecaited.

Learn to use the map to see active pilots in space.
They are "clients" not victims

theres usually some smacktalking idiot flying around in his brand new ferox doing a complex, and usually they arent smart enough to watch local
basically, dont give in to the urge to smacktalk back if they do so to you, and dont be afraid to warp out if things get ugly
other than that, try those solar systems on for size
theres usually some pretty nice targets around there :) _________________________________________ 2005.01.17 22:04:22 combat Chackle [PUSY] perfectly runs from you, wrecking for 1500 cowardice. |

When you try pirating is when you realize just how few people are in low sec space. You'll just have to search.

Agreed, this is a good area to learn.
Just remember, if you decide to ransom, don't overcharge. Kepp the ransom within the bounds of reality. i.e. don't charge 15mil for a cruiser, you just won't get paid.

Try roaming around. Don't be like the other forum pirates and stay in one region. Manyn regions out there with many people in it. You also have something called 0.0 that has many sheep in there who think they claim space.

Forgyls at work to do confusing lines thingy!!!

Pirating and in your case alone is done in RP mode to get full affect and the right mind.
To be brave is not the same as stupid but it can fairly look the same.
To scream Yaar at a gate blow something up once then go home will not make you a "i have tried pirating" guy either.
To roam system after system to find a target combined with a secstat -5 is gonna make you a bit naked if you loose the ship to faar from home.
To not loose the ship and to choose fight(s) is the first things you should focus on and to be able to that map and scanner is a must.
In a pirate sence loosing a ship is bad, the ship is his pride the tactics his weapon, so if a ship is lost his weapons isen't working so to speak. The above mentioned is very easly mixed up with beeing a coward, but isk is never/rarly gonna be your closest partner.
But if u doooo get alot of isk your most probbably go on a shoppingspree in total confusion over the isk in the hand. (Goldmember is my rolemodel though)
After that said shopping over with you can go crazystyle for awhile but hopefully you have become a pirate now and can't just let them have the smile of getting your ship (wihtout WCS) , pulse booster.
Now we have to get a victim, Study the map look over the area u call home after that. tripple the size of you so called home and start getting some basic stuff around to your new rooms in your now bigger home. Study the map again and as you hopefully got whilst expanding your home, all was lowsec or mainly. Make a road so to speak a bounch of combined systems that is lowsec. To do this without traveling there is nitty functions in the map that enable you to see what, where whos dog and so on.
Fit scrambler go loose. the knowledge of said systems combined with the increasing knowledge of the scanner will let you search them faster. Will also get to learn the people that live there and u will see about 11210220365164864231861020564523123 POS and doubble the drones.
So take that away on your scanner to get a fast result.
When u get close a customer , don't rush keep an eye on local and scanner ask your ransom and let go if he pays otherwise try again on the pod.
Last word, Keep your word if given, u can say much but it only counts if the word is given.
First one able to read all of this get 5000isk
Can someone ransom the clock on a few hours please, time is killing me here.

cleric.. also if your gonna be scrambling miners in belts.. remember if your gonna ransom them , don't charge them over what their ships worth
say your find a retriver minning barge it's for example 8mil of market and 3mil to insure.. charge him 2-4 u'll 90% of the time get paid.. but remember you do get the occasional "carebears who dont pay and well this is where your sec stats will go down.. well mine did hehe
if your gonna gate gamp.. align for warp first before you start shooting at thingsand fit yourself a good tank as those sentries can be a pain if your tank is crap and you cant afford to loose ur ship/mods
dont head to 0.0 just becuase u wanna.. only go if u can fully protect yourself cos for all you know on that next jump could be a huge dreadnaught gate camp
hopefully might see you out if your ever over in the placid region
have fun and remember kill a carebear it keeps space clean

Edited by: Layrex on 09/12/2005 17:08:57 These days I find myself killing young pirates looking for victims, rather than miners or rat hinters.
Here's a tip, in the area I work out of there is one system that is usually pretty busy. I just sit and wait in the top belt, rarley go 10 mins without someone coming along.

Never tried to fit an incursus myself, Caldari technology (aka kestrel) being far superior, but:
-Drop the warp disruptor, use a warp scrambler (the one with 7,5 km range); eats a lot less cap and I guess your cap skills are not that high (may be wrong ofc); save the cap for repairs and speed boost (see below)
-fit either an Afterburner or a Microwarpdrive. Once your status becomes negative, better have some speed to close the distance fast before your customer flyes away (or decides for preemtive hostilities... ), and to avoid being hit while in orbit.
Remember, tight orbits are your friends.

That setup seems sound.
Learn to use the scanner and scan belts from a safespot or planet. Also a good place to find potential customers is in complexes and at the complex acceleration gate.

woooo , i went to the lonetrek region and just fly around the systems. A few ppl names came into the same systems a few times so i followed one of them. After a while i think he got suspicious of me and he attacked with his Kestrel and a load of missles. Anyways my antimatter ammo took care of it.
i can tell you this, my heart almost jumped outt my chest for beating. Very very exciting and i want more.

An Incursus...Don you really mean you go hunting in an Incursus...I mine sometimes in lower-sec systems, but an Incursus would be the victim, not me. Come on, you can't hunt effectively in an Incursus...
