After hearing of the wonders of mining in 0.0 I decided to move there but I can't find the amazing ores people talk about. The rarest thing I can find is hedgebright which can be found in >0.2 also. I'm 5 jumps in to southern 0.0. What are the big value ores and where can I find them in relation to my position. Keep in mind that I only have miner II's to mine with.

EVE systems have a "true" sec status.
0.0 is actually nought to -1.
The lower the true sec status, the better the ores found.
Linkage to look up a system. This will help you pin down the good stuff.

I know what systems the rare ore is in but if you go there you will get killed.
but i will give you a hint people put this item that has water you drink from in schools.
hint 2 this other place was a well know pirate base close to the jovian chair and has Dark things sitting in space.
but let me say this if you are smart you will stay away from the 2 places.

So basically the only way I can mine decent ore is to go into a super alliance controlled pirate camping gank zone =( At what sec level do the good ores start? I'm in a negative 0.06 now.

pretty much it, oh i think there is dark oachre in P3-EN 
Basically the further out, the better the ore. I do agree though there needs to be slightly buffed ore in 0.0 regions close to empire im not talking ark in every belt, but mabye spod or something in belts neer empire.

This is exactly why the exodus never happened. I believe the whole of 0.0 should be profitable space, with certain systems having much more abundance of rares. I see no reason why all 0.0 regions should not have at least some rares.
I have to travel 14 jumps from the nearest station to a reasonable mining area and then haul the stuff 14 jumps back, or take the reduced output from the POS.
How many empire dwellers would mess about like this?
If there were rares in all 0.0 sytems at least people would think they stand half a chance of getting an operation going. The more profitable systems would obviously be claimed by the bigger alliances and corps.
I think it would definitely increase 0.0 traffic if 0.0 operartions were guaranteed better returns for the increased risk.

Having better ore closer to empire space would not save you from "super alliance controlled pirate camping gank zone" syndrome.
The remote areas are more tightly controlled and restricted because there's better ore there. Have better ore closer to empire and the spheres of influence expand to include that.
And please remember that this is a "massive" "multi" player game. It would be ridiculous if a small corp or freelancer could do stuff as easily and efficiently as bigger corps and alliances.
OTOH, 0.0 Corps and alliances are looking for fresh blood all the time - so that leaves you with the following (very reasonable I think) options:
1. Don't bother - you can make good bucks and stuff in empire space. Less profit at high end - but also less risk/costs.
2. Join existing 0.0 corp/alliance.
3. Build up a corp that is strong enough to live out there.
4. Go out there alone. It's risky but doable. Find ways to handle the BS equipped belt pirates, avoid alliance patrols and gankers and solve the logistics of moving the ore back to a safe base. It's difficult and dangerous - but not impossible. Others have done it.

Bear in mind that adding zyd and mega giving roids to all 0.0 wouldn't help you much. The price would collapse.

CCP really should make those gateway systems have super ore growth. That way all the gate campers would be blowing up people in the belts instead.

Get in contact with the alliance that controls the area and see about aquiring a mining pass. Some even offer refining services as long as you use their faacilities to do the refining.
