It seems odd that the Caldari, despite being supposed "masters of missiles" - have been nerf'ed to an extent with Odyssey. Yes, the Navy Drake and Navy Raven have more launchers, but the inherent damage bonuses on the Drake are essentially gone. Yes, cruise missiles were buffed - but this doesn't just apply to Caldari ships but all races. For example, the Minmatar Typhoon Fleet Issue does more damage than the Caldari Navy Raven with 2 fewer launchers. From a PvP standpoint, the Typhoone Fleet will literally wipe the floor with the Navy Raven. Maybe the Caldari ships should be receiving a +5 bonus to kinetic damage per level in addition. |

The point was they should have the best missile ships, just as the Gallente have the best hybrids, Amarr the best energy, etc. |

Bah Gallente don't have the best hybrids.....Amarr havebest lasers yup and minnie have best projectiles but that is because the ship bonuses make them the best for those weapon systems.
Caldari and gallente both have hybrids and both can be used to great effect. There is no 'best' it is all personal preference.
And Caldari have excellent missile based ships.....there is a reason they are pretty much the most popular ships. That is the Way, the Tao.
Balance is everything. |

What do you need damage type for when someone only wants to rat in guristas space. Noticed the kin damage requested? :| I only correct my own spelling. |

Both the DNI and RNI were buffed in Odyssey, not nerfed. It seems like people tend to underestimate the 25% explosion radius bonus which is an absolute godsend in damage application, ie real and not EFT damage.
The same can be said for the selectable damage types we have now, moving away from the atrocious kinetic only bonuses that shoehorned the hulls to a single damage type.
Lastly, the Odyssey cruise missile buff made both DNI and RNI better than their Retribution counterparts (Drake and RNI respectively).
Saying that you only rat Guristas ----> the ships were nerfed is a little dumb, you have to get the big picture here. If you only use a hull as a glorified red cross kill'a'mole, you can certainly fail to notice the importance of the new bonuses in all hull applications. |

The Raven navy gets better range and damage application over the Typhoon fleet and that is definitely not to be overlooked. For shooting a structure or something for sure go for the Phoon but in many real applied situations the Raven will in fact apply more damage than the Phoon.
Also the velocity bonus means that there are cruisers out there that can straight up kite the Torps fired from a Phoon while they will be hit by Torps fired by a Raven.
Like everything else there is a tradeoff and while the Phoon does shine in some areas as a straight up missile damage platform the Raven is superior to the Phoon. |

Missiles are fine. No lack of missile use in pvp. 6 of the top 20 ships on eve-kill are missile boats. Only one is a drone boat. This would suggest that if any weapon needs a buff it is still drones. Regardless, every weapon system has drawbacks. Learn to minimize them as much as possible and live with what you can't change. Or change what weapons you use.
As for medium rails, do you think medium beams are any better? (answer, they are worse) And, the only thing medium arty has going for it is alpha. Without that it would be the worst because the dps is woeful. |

Would a typhoon fleet beat a navy raven in a 1v1? Probably.
Does that mean that its inherently a better ship.. No.. Ships have niches and rolls they are good at. The raven has excellent range and damage application. BYDI recruitment closed-ish |

Caldari have probably the best T1 frigates (Condor/Hookbill with TDs or Damps dominate atm).
Caldari have probably the best T1 cruiser in the Caracal
Caldari have hands down the best L4 LVE weapon in the newly buffed cruise missile on the Raven or RNI.
Tengu is still an excellent PVE ship.
True that the Drake is not what it once was, but not so much to complain about I reckon. |

These are all valid points, and I'm not certainly disagreeing with any. The explosion radius bonus is certainly an advantage for the RNI in PvE, but not necessarily PvP against a comparable opponent like a Typhoon. |
