OK!!! I think its about DAMN time for the servers to come up! How long do they plan on keeping them down, you know there WILL more bugs,so theres no point in keeping them down any longer. unless... CCP really screwed up in this patch... wouldnt surprise me

45 minutes overdue isnt that bad
Much better than British trains.
Give it another 2 hours and the server might be up.
I think they are looking for the switch marked 'on/off'

I think they are doing:
- Alteration to server client;
- Alteration to database records (Miner 2 and skills on market)
- Re-indexing of the market database
- Re-indexing of the player database
- Clean up of the system nodes
All these things take time.

No ccp didn't screw up, but the powercard. from the main c64 is broken..
and the load"$",8,1 command is very slow i guess

Extended downtime 14th August 11:00-14:30 GMT
Due to upgrade of EVE to version 1165, yes we are patching today.
10 mins ETA. they had alot of CTD's when undocking for 1164.

Would you like to be there patching maybe? I'm quite sure it's not that simple of a process, and as with any project, big or small, the schedule posted beforehand is only an estimate at best. There is no way that all possible problems could be predicted beforehand, it's part of the very nature of working with computer systems.
Chill out, go get a pint at a pub nearby, watch some TV - The game will be up again once you get back :)

Actually the cluster takes a long time to boot...i think they always underestimate the time it takes to ajust the patch to the live database...
They should get a better perspective. also i feel that as they are patching they always decide to fix one more thing or this or that realy quick and all the real quicks end up being 2 houres extra.
what i want is an acuratly projected downtime...if it take 5 houres then so be it! just dont say itl take 1 houre and end up taking 5 h!

Here's what I think they're doing:
Trying to figure out what to do with all the people who started up batches for 1000 BPC's before the servers went down. Make the BPC's that will be produced unlimited since they were started before the patch (since no field was entered to indicate what the limit would be for those BPC's)? Stop the processes and risk getting smothered with flames from players? Postpone the patch until they can have numerous meetings to figure out how to take care of the problem?
I'm probably wrong but...

Only kidding, of course.. but I did have a dream about that once..
The only thing they need to work on is their "Extended Downtime" messages. Almost always WAAAYY off the mark.

Jeez its only a few hours..go out..see the sun (the yellow thing in the sky if its been a while for you)
I'd rather they take 6 hours to patch and have it stable rather then do it in 1 hour and still have the CTD and numerous bugs.
And yea guess with our trains waiting is part of life :P (Frikken thing was 50 mins late this morning!)

They found a bug in 1164 where EVERYTIME you undock you CTD. TomB said they were fixing it and incrementing the version to 1165. Should be up in about 15 minutes he said.

I am actually glad to be waiting, while I will admit that I am slightly annoyed to have to wait a few extra hours...I prefer it to having my ship instantly stuck for a few days. I just hope that the server comes up before I fall asleep.

Clearly the patch hasnt been tested. If CTD's were happening all the time then it just couldn't have been.

If CCP were smart about it, they' just post some ludicrous overestimate of server up time, then everyone would praise them for getting the job done early
Extended downtime today due to patch, downtime will go from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm the following day. We appologise for any inconvenience.

But it would be a better idea if they would post a more realistic downtime period, rather than just updating the expected uptime every 30 minutes, 10 minutes before the revised time.

Well at least I got some good cleaning done It is better to take the time and get it done right vs getting it done quick and missing something. Things do take time and the amount of time required can't always be accurately predicted.
