Im at odds at the momeny wether to get me a dominix or a mega when I reach battleships status, which isnt far off.
I like the Dominix for its drone bays and overall damage capability
Havent really heard a lot about the mega any insight?

Im looking for general overal NPC and PC hunting ability. I eventually want to join hunts after PC pirates. I do a lot of mining too so the Dom is sounding good right now

Everyone seems to think the dominix is better than the megathron. I have used niether but I wonder why the megathron cost almost twice as much as the dominix if it is worse. |

Am i missing something?
How can you say the Dominix is more versatile, or a better mining ship than the Mega?
Dominx: 6 turrets, 0 launchers, 6/5/7 drones 5000
Mega: 7 turrets, 2 launchers, 8/4/6 drones 2500
For mining...you can only use max 10 drones that if you have lvl 5 in both drones skills... and both can make use of them, so with the extra laser the mega is clearly a better miner...
and for fighting, besides the extra shield, more armor and more structure of the Mega. the mega still can use up to 10 heavy drones and has 2 extra high slots, for an extra turrets and launcher or 2 launchers more than the Dominix... so how can you say the Dominix is better in anything? The Extra drones base, donĘtĘ overpower that wimp extra drone spaceą both ships will be using the same amount of drones before the Dominix is goneą

Mega: 150 less cpu, 1 medium slot less, 1 low slot less (effeciently 2 low slots less ,since you will need a cpu enhancer to equip the mega completly).
For mining the mega is a little better, but the domi is better for combat. The 1 possible gun more and the slightly better shield armor and grid are worth nothing against the 1 med and 2 low+ of the domi, if you fit those 2 low with damage mods a domi with 6 guns will outperform a meag with 7 easily. And the additional med slot can fit another shield hardner, scanning cpu, etc, which is quite important for pvp (and in the shield hardeners case for vs NPCs, too).
The key here is that the domi can be used as well as miner and as combat ship, whil the mega is not reall a good pvp ship.

I agree, from the looks of things the dominix is not as good as the megathron |

Don't forget powergrid, you won't fit 6/7 large turrets on either ship without using RCUs, since most (maybe not blasters) large turrets use 2750/3750MW.

ah, but you must remember that the dominix is ugly (as gallente ships go), so for 2x the price you get something that is almost good looking (although the megathron looks like someone flew it into a brick wall)
