There was a time in EVE when the forums were filled with entertainment and trolling, I myself once tried to take over this role, but I just seem to lack the talent.
Has CCP finally banned all the funny trolls?
Are we doomed with a deluge of " CCP Product. is DYING " threads?
What happened to GD?
Did the trolls simply migrate north for the summer?
Will they be back when it is bone chillingly cold to warm our hearts?

Trolling relies heavily on pushing people's buttons. Pushing peoples' buttons is easiest when there are
"push button topics", i.e. things that invoke strong feelings/reactions in people on opposite sides of the issue (e.g. Incarna, Because of Falcon, ganking, etc..)
Thus, the lack of trolls implies a lack of divisive issues in the community (thus implying that CCP is doing things right.) Or it means that one group of people have given up on the game and left thus removing some divisiveness (thus implying CCP is doing things wrong.) Or both.
Also, quantum mechanics.

Remember your not allowed to take about a CCP employee in any form or fashion regardless of if your a CSM or not. That came from CCP to me from the mint chip saga, what a joke. Because tbh we were talking about mintchip the blogger not the CCP member those two entities are seperate. And I think CCP was wrong for allowing that name to carry over. So was it a set up? Sure seems that way. |

Actually you can talk to/about CCP employee's any time you like. They just draw the line at personal attacks, just as they do when discussing non-CCP employee's.
Having an outspoken and well known young lady expressing her opinion of your favorite game, which may not agree with your own, is sure to draw an over exaggerated response from our self entitled (and primarily male) community.
Perhaps one day these individuals will get over their innate fear of women that aren't immediate family members and actually act like adults. In the meantime they can enjoy their ban.
To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors.

I've been called a troll many times, and I've got no problem with her either. I don't know here educational and work background, but I assume CCP does and saw something they liked (or she got hired for the reason Mr. Sexual Harassment Panda up there said). CAOD also died. But in this case the posters were simply prevented from using their NPC corp alts. Which immediately doomed it as who would dare to go there using their Nullsec Hegemony Alliance main character.

I am of the opinion that there are multiple reasons for the dearth of troll posts: the two most outstanding ones being that we are still in the three month enforced silence period post CCP Mintchip's thread deletion, and there is a bloody big war on so the trolls have something to do besides posting nonsense on the forums.

I see trolling as a form of showing off/bullying, and both are the lowest form of attention seeking.
I would personally like to see a tv show "To catch a troll" - A team of 'Normal, non-geeky anti Trollers' hunt down Trollers who sit laughing at their own troll posts from the comfort and safeness of their parents house/basement/or run down single bedroom flat (obviously stereotyping a tiny bit here).
Once the target has been identified - slap them with a fish, pull their pants down to their ankles (both genders as they are not sexist) and parade them down the street making them yell "I am an unfunny mong".
....or some sort of similar concept.
I realise there will be a troll who will say something original along the lines of "yo mad brah!?", or "someone got trolled"...
If that makes your pastey chest feel a little bigger, or gives you a raging semi on, then feel free :)

Personally, I stopped posting to the eve-o forums after I comitted suicide. Being dead is a serious impediment to the creative process required to come up with any thoughts worthy of writing down.
If you ask why I'm able to express myself now ... you're either a nitpicker or you somehow don't believe in either afterlife, resurection, karma, role-playing, vampires, zombies and other totally valid explanations.
Anyway.

Also ex forum bad horrible terrible troll signing in, I think but I'm not sure yet... There seems to be a lot of talk/hate towards this mintchip person? What happened there/what did they do?
Bad mouths will always be bad mouths be it in life or in forums games or whatever place you see them and of course, the protections of their anonymous faceless uninteresting internet persons makes them open their crap hole harder.
The positive thing on those is that at least they're so easy to spot you have no trouble blocking them and feel free of reading their crap.
Some comments in this very same thread deserve a nice ban warning to bring those idiots minds back to some reality but welp, I'm not forum mod.
