So yeah. While I sip my prune juice you other old farts get in here and talk about the good old days! Like M0o (they made me into a Pirate after I died to one of their gate camps) or B0B vs G00ns. The ORIGINAL Goons. Not this bloated heap of wannabe kids on forums but the REAL ones!
The underdogs who fought Sir Molle and were cheered on (oh how oblivious we all were back then). How about Farjung? Anyone remember him? Waves Of Mutilation? It's why I have a hard on still for the VIndi to this day
So go on! Refresh my liver spotted memory. You got a good tale? A memory that sticks out to you? post it before you fall asleep again you old coot! |

most kill mails had a Drake, or Hurricane on it.
We had learning skills to that could help up train skills faster.
You could see a kill mail where 1 Titan killed a whole fleet with a well placed DD
the Geddon was a bad ass laser platform
The Domi was the best drone boat around
Super carriers left a trail of death behind them from frigs to other capitals
we didnt have armor honey combing or reative armor stuff young folk have
The Sansha were far away and new eden didnt need to worry about incursions
The maller looked horrible.
Back in my day we didnt have T3 cruisers

No Training Queue, having to either log in at god awful hours to flip skills and/or having a load of near completed skills that you only trained while logged in as they were a few hours from completion. Let's see what I can remember:
- Mining in an Osprey, because I didn't have the money for a battleship and mining barges didn't exist. Osprey's and scythes had 20%/lvl mining yield bonus back then.
- Ye olde graphics;
- Seeing a freighter for the first time. Probably an Obelisk because training gallente industrial V was popular back then, so you could fly an itty V.
- Cruise launcher II selling for 10mil each, 500mil Hulks, 200-250mil for Deimos
- Being in the Xetic Federation and living at a corp POS, because players couldn't build stations yet.

Quite famous from posting on eve forum about his oversized pirate ego and the mighty octobersnow corp. His computer was sitting under the stairs and he even painted the room black to match his pirate personnality lol. Could see him posting on the forum about how everyone should get gank and how he was always the best lol. Back in the days he did try to regroup the most famous pirates of eve for one gate camp hehe.

Both had hudge egos and werent shy to claim to be the best killer of the game ! At that time, warp to zero coudnt save your spaceship, without a bookmark, you had to fly 15 km to that gate.
Im kinda sad that they remove CAOD.. That forum part on this very forum was quite entertaining and it was providing lots of work for trolls and moderators too.

Ah yes. when I was in Menevolent Emo Herders I flew with former M0o pilots and never forgot it. Hate to say it but I had a fanboy crush on those dastardly devils. To think their actions still echo in the game today in things like gate guns. A different breed those guys were.
Very egotistical but had every right to flaunt it. Nowadays it's rather rare finding players of that caliber. Those of us who remember them try to hold onto the memories and what they did. Some entities such as FLASHY RED (god bless them) Tuskers, Shadow Cartel, and a few others still love the game how it was played back in those days.
Sure everyones been forced to adapt to bridges and such but the spirit remains the same. |
