Personally, When Im pirating I prefer to kill my target rather than use this ransomming rubbish. But thats purely because I get more from the modules of the kill than I would from the ransom.
Yes Ransomming can get you lucky, But what if the prey gets away with
A Bucket load of uber Mods, If you'd have killed instead you would be richer ? Possibly You'll never know.
So My question is, What do you guys/gals Prefer ? Ransom Or Kill and why. |

Ransom, as I cannot afford to live soleley in 0.0 yet and it provides money without me losing sec standing.
Also there are more targets in low-sec, so not being cut off from there earns you more in the long run.

i hunt enemy alliance pilots, so i destroy the ship and pod the player regardless of what they say in local.

Ransom, to better demonstrate your control of the situation and dominance over your target. 
Though of course it's not always possible.

Both, you can pretty much assume a osprey mining with lasers isn't going to have some 30 million isk cargo expander on. It's possiable but the percentages point elsewhere. So rather try to ransom for mill or two. That way I don't get stuck with a security hit from aquiring some miner II's.

I doubt you find a lot of people willing to give you anything other than a 2-word answer if you blow up their ship.
Ransom time is when you have the ship into structural. If you blow it up that would end the negotiation as far as I'm concerned.

Ransom if I can, but the vast majority of people I fight tend to want to go down with guns a blazing. The reason why I ransom some, well some fights are boring if they are not against some one who is skilled enough to make it challenging, so in those boring fights having a convo makes it a bit more interesting.
Yesterday was my first proper day back in eve, engaged a ransomable dom...but the adrenaline was pumping and making me a bit jittery, so I blasted him away to chill me the **** out
