*REMS = Reality Expressing Moral Superiority, the notion that a gamer is expressing his "actual" self through videogames, and the people who act a certain way are morally deficient, not just in a game but also by necessity in real life. On the other hand, those who oppose such acts in videogames are morally superior, both in the game and in real life, by expressing their distaste for videogame behaviour. Yes, I just coined&defined that term, yes you may use it free of charge, especially w. proper attribution.

The aim of this game is to do whatever you want, so long as you remain within the EULA and the ToS. If your thing is stealing from the rich to give to yourself, go do it. If you want to manipulate the market to make oodles of ISK, feel free. If you want violence other people's boats and steal their loot, have at it.
Your Eve experience is not defined by what you cannot do. It is defined by what you choose to do. GÇ£SandboxGÇ¥ does not mean that you will succeed at anything you attempt; it means you can attempt anything you want to succeed at. One of the largest obstacles in the way of your success is other players. |

I've got news for you, games are an escape from real life not a reflection of it. I can play CoD, BF or MoH and slaughter everything in my path, I can play GTA, pick up a hooker and then beat her to death with a dildo to get my money back and then go and start a massive gunfight with the police, I can rob you blind before stabbing you in the back in Eve, it doesn't mean that I'm a raving psychopath in real life, it just means that I play at being one in a game. If you can't separate reality from fantasy I suggest you get help.

Now why would anyone want to play at being a raving psychopath in a game if it isn't to express suppressed real life desires? As far as I'm concerned the only reason an ingame scammer/thief hasn't done similar actions in real life is because they have not been in a position to do so or are simply too afraid of the consequences. |

The community is still better than League of Legends. I didn't even know it was possible to be a ****, a *****, a ******, a ********** and a jew at the same time, but apparently I am one for locking in Blitzcrank a full 30 seconds before the guy who cussed me out.
This community on the other hand, while ruthless, is actually pretty cool. Mostly because the ruthlessness tends to scare away the stuffed up tweenage morons.
I couldn't ask for a better community. Not posting on my main, and loving it.-á Because free speech.-á |

Because you can if you choose to do so, you sound like someone who has bought into the whole violent films and games cause real life violence fallacy, one that has zero empirical evidence and has been debated for decades.

That statement above is literally dripping with butthurt. (try getting that mental image out of your head, readers!) So, if you do, as you state, have no issues, why on earth would you jump in here and try to run him down? Do you care so much for the hurt feelings of the poor imbeciles he robbed? Are you avenging some wrong done to you earlier in life? Or maybe you are attempting to bathe your own self gratification in some kind of falsely assumed moral superiority? Or one of any other myriad of reasons one might be white knighting, I've seen a lot of them.
And the worms start crawling out of the woodwork ...If you cannot comprehend the luxury of trust , maybe its something lacking in your life and in your game.

Don't jump to conclusions ....Let me ask you this . You and I are mates we decide to start a corp together , we run it for years and are good friends. You make some poor decisions in game that lands you in financial trouble. You decide to grab the corp cookie Jar and run ...Do you honestly think there is no moral problem stealing from your friend?
If your intentions from the word go was to rip me off I have no problems with that ....Like i said lots of grey areas. |

Let me be straight with you ....a few years ago we were living in a wormhole , along came a thief and stole some **** from us. Very easy to do due to game mechanics.
He left and joined another corp . So I looked up the CEO and informed him what happened, guess what.... he kicked the thief. A few weeks later he joined another corp and I followed my same little procedure and it had the same result. This went on for a few months . I guess the guy needed a corp ...you get lonely people out there lol so he went and joined his original corp he started Eve with. (he probably thought his CEO would support him).
This time his CEO looked me up and suggested that I needed to stop victimizing the poor guy lol I explained to him he had two choices ......either the thief returns the stolen goods or we war Dec his corp to infinity ....
Thief got dropped by his corp and then sends me a little dear Johny about how sorry he was and would like to reimburse us for the damages. I actually spoke to the guy in channel and he was not far from tears..long story short he paid me for everything he stole before his corp would take him back.
Other than that no but hurt ....btw you can verify this story with one of my ex directors Khujo (In game name).
There is a fine line between right and wrong ...I have no problem with the op Im just not going to be an idiot and let him into my corp ...cause I like my cookies. |
