So the thought occured to me that we could create somesort of introductory window, that window would: simply ask the pilot about its interests in the current new x ; introduce the basic feature(s) ; be hosted by Aurora ; accesible to that end of allowing the pilot to reactivate or deactivate the new x.
Cause, as is, we are doing the error of : GêÇ x Gêâ x +¢ w = bad reputation, and a bad reputation stops people from spreading the word of Eve. Just, look at what the "Tracking Camera: toggle point camera to selected item" is contributing to an terrible game experience.
[PIlot use flow chart:] Pilot logs in due to a summons from the Alliance leader concenring a P.O.S. getting aggroed. Pilot is in space and racing towrads the P.O.S. On arrival there is an confrontation and the regular targeting sequnece starts. The new x makes the console go haywire and the [pilots] muscle memmory is voided. Aurora blinks/glows/luminesence. The pilots is frothing angry clicking Aurora "A Window" apears with some sort of area to disable re-able new x. Pilots follows logic PIlots fights battle CCP did not just lose an pilot to a rage quit and an inevitable "bad reputation Whiner song" that would prevent 100 other new pilots.
[other things that Aurora could do via that window]
Additionally, that window could be used to warn players of their exploit conduct or eula violations. Since that window is generally Aurora notifying the pilot of on-going [x] activity, then that window could be used to transmit warning messages from CONCORD to the pilot's immediate attention.
Now, i use the term "immediate attention" to convey my concern over the [pilot's] general lack of interest in reading any EULA. Such lack of interests inevitably gets pilots banned and shrinks CCP's subscriber base, because it is the nature of the player to fill the bloody console up with addons and do whatever they feal like. Coupled with the nature of the CCP employe to simply ban EULA violator. . . .Considering the set of pilots that "do not read EULAs and do what ever they want" noted as "Y"; coupled with the war-traumatized CCP emplyee that is simply banning eula vioolators, noted as Z. Then, considering the intersection of the 2 sets Y & Z. Finally, removing all the "boggey wo/men" (not using the definition of the war-traumatized CCP employee) : code hackers. What remains is like what the mechanic says "Well here is your problem".
[in demonic] Get this through your [sensrored] head and stop being such egotisktical [sensored] : Lets get the player base up from stinking!! Goody Goody!! 2 shoes-es and permit the rest of the world to [sensored] play, you [sensored] [sensred].
In conclusions, I am convinced that an "early warning system" implmeneted by Aurora will save allot CCP's reputation. As well as, give the players a chance to ammend their ways; when after all, it is just human nature what they are doing. Through massive bans of Thousands of accounts the playerbase has grown.
What has lowered the subscription numbers? Bad expansions, normally from CCP not listening to their players.
The biggest on record in Incarna, there are others that have lowered the subscription numbers including the current Odyssey expansion.
I am personally against a simplified dot point EULA explanation(or any simplified EULA), mainly for the fact that if those dot points (etc..) miss any of the many points of the EULA and a player is then banned for his actions, he/she will complain even louder that they were not warned that what they were doing is a bannable offense. TBH if a player is to lazy to read the EULA and TOS, chances are they would just click to continue on a simplified version without reading it.
EvE is a niche game and one really for mega nerds. The fact that even with its bad Expansions it has never been in a permanent decline, even after Incarna 12 months later the subscriptions were on a rise. Unlike every other game that peaks and then is is a long drawn out death rattle or not so long.
EvE has always drawn on a huge world wide group of the above average, if we try to dumb it down as has been happening we will become main stream, and then die like all mainstream games.
EvE is unique and it should remain so. Any spelling and grammatical errors are because frankly, I don't care!! |
