Yes i know, very descriptive topic title 
Anyway, If would be nice if there was a module that would de-cloak ships within a certain radius. They would work like ECM Burst with maybe a 15km range. Hi slot module mainly for use on intys. Maybe even a specialist long range version for interdictors.

Cept cloaking isnt overpowered as is...so why does their need to be a counter?

look @ the 2 with scram/web bonuses... If their subject to the same decloaking rules as stealth bombers... there might be a small issue there.

Are recon cruisers stealth bombers?
no
So why would they get the stealth bomber's bonuses for decloaking?

no
So why would they get the stealth bomber's bonuses for decloaking?
there was 2 methods TomB said they might have used to improve the stealth bombers... modifying the cloaking device and modifying the stealth bomber. Not sure which one he took but if they modified the cloaking device it would transfer over to recon cruisers. After all we cant test any of this stuff so its all up in the air.

There are if you look in teh extracted data from the test client...they are kinda like smartbombs...cept destabilize cloaks out to a max range of 15km

Don't stealth bombers and Covert ops ships use T2 cloaks? No other ship can use a T2 Cloak.
Maybe one day we can entertain this, but right now its not needed. Add only for fun. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

cov ops use 'cov ops cloak'
sb's used Improved cloak II
and i 'think' the bonus will be witht he sb for uncloaking...at least i hope, or recon cruisers will be the next 'i win' ship

They have modded the bonuses so the stealth bomber gets a "special ability" so that the time penalty is reduced when fitting cloaks. They still cant fit cov ops cloaks.
These new T2 cruisers come in two flavours combat recon (ewar version) and force recon (can fit a covert ops cloak)
Basically I think the force recons wont be powerful on their own but with a HAC waiting to warp in they'll be quite nice.

Im for this idea, but under one condition. The cloak destabilizer thing should have no more than a 15 km range, and it shouldnt be "always on". For it to work properly you have to activate it, and any ship with a cloak that comes in range of it while cloaked will get decloaked. A device like this should require plenty of grid and capacitor as well, to keep things fair, and it should have say... a 40 second jam time maximum in which the cloak cant be reactivated, while the destabilizer should have a much longer cool down time.
