Sometimes you need to pass through systems that you know are a perfect trap for gate campers. What is the best way to deal with this, other than making a round trip (which might be impossible in some cases).
Is using instas safe enough to pass a gate camp? I guess the exit point is most dangeropus since you would be cloaked for a while after the jump. Do I get enough time after coming out of warp until I can jump to avoid getting killed?

With instas, there is no danger at the exit point unless there's a warp bubble, which can only be put up in 0.0. (If you're talking low sec)
The only danger is being popped upon warpout, which is unlikely unless you're in an indy. And if you are in an indy, put on some armor plates and shield extenders. - Proud member of the [23].

Sometimes you're choices are down to SS and log and wait until the gate camp is over - or die trying to run a blockade (especially with warp bubbles up). An expertly set up gate camp is designed to not give incoming ships a fair chance of escape, but rather to prevent that from happening.
As stated before instants are good to have, if you travel a route in a regular fashion you should take the time to grab a shuttle and set up bookmarks.
Having at least 1 wcs fitted also helps, saved my cruiser the other day from certain death at a hostile (very) gate camp in 0.4 (no bubbles) 'cause an inty's lock time is really impressive and you're probably not going to make the jump before he has locked and scrambled you.

No pirate uses inties at a 0.4 gate. The inty will be instapopped by the sentries.
That's why 0.0 is so much more dangerous--they've got inties to scramble you. - Proud member of the [23].

Well this wasn't a pirate camp but as I said - some *very* hostile war targets :)

Does Warp Scrambling prevent you from jumping through that gate? From what i've read in the "Scientific Articles", jumping through the gate does not involve using your Warp Drive

Warps scrambling prevents you from warping away but jump is still possible if you are near gate. However, aggression prevents you from jumping because you are embracing cowardice. Either stay at gate area and fight to death (jumping no longer possible) or let them aggress you and you jump out, leaving them stucked in the previous system for 30s to 1 min.
Hopping gates is part of the game but very unsportsmanship. Either fight and die, or run around, waste time and embrace cowardice for life. ----------------

Its not unsportsmanlike if you're the indy trying to run - Proud member of the [23].

Very unsportsmanlike? What about hopping a gate in an indy that's getting pounded by a battleship?
EDIT: I see Dark Shikari and I think alike in this matter.

OK OK... sorry for not being specific. I was thinking along the lines of combat ships (hence gate hopping and unsportsmanlike, etc.), if Indies, then run. I mean, what can a non-combat ship do other than hopping? ----------------

Get blown apart into tiny little pieces.
That's what happened to my Bestower a few days ago when it didn't make it to the gate in time, anyway.

That's why I hardly fly Indies any more. I feel so vulnerable, helpless and always at the mercy of others, not mentioning feeling dirty flying more than 20 jumps. A combat ship is better, they show you some guns, you can show them some bigger guns. ----------------

Have you ever put 5 sensor dampeners on a badger mk2? - Proud member of the [23].

Hmmmmm... I try not to get into the situation in the first place. Besides, what is the point? I cant even lock them as fast as they can to dampen them before they lock me. It's more like whoever locks, gets to pop. Also, if I do dampen, I cant jump at the next gate. I rather go for all nanofibers or all wcs to escape. Going to pop, might as well make it harder for them to pop me. ----------------

I got my badger mk II past an Apoc BS sniping a gate camp recently.
Gotta love the cloaking devices :) I managed to align to the next gate while cloaked, dropped the cloak and hit warp.
He got one salvo of 8 shots on me as I was warping off but shield extenders and hardeners soaked up that. A second round would have been another story though
Of course, I should have just coasted away cloaked until someone else caught his attention and THEN made a run for it. It was fun though
