There have been loads of posts on macro miners recently but I've never seen one before because I'm an outlaw. I pass through empire occasionally with my hauler alt but they don't mine at gates.
So exactly how bad is the problem? Is high sec loaded with them or are people screaming bloody murder over nothing?

Most places it's not as bad as it sounds but near the core systems it's sometimes loaded.

it's not all macroers, theres a lot of farmers ingame where on person controls numerous chars, ive seen one person who must have had numerous machines running due to him having 18+ chars mining/hauling, it was obviously the same person due to him naming his drop cans abusively with the same text but being dropped by different chars when they were popped

Well, ive seen some real funny mining, as only mining veldspar, scordite and all sorts, and kernite, and leaving all dense veldspar. Though im not so fast to petition when i got no way of seeing if its an noob with his 3-4 covetor/retriever's

Actually it is far far more common than that, and it is not in core systems alone.
Infact I am only at and around coresystems when selling stuff and my activities on the miningfront have been disrupted by macrominers/isk farmers...
They have even been into low sec (0.4) where ofcourse me and my corp have tried take them out as best we can, we do take out some but still it is not enough.
We have robbed them, we have killed them and still their numbers grow!!!
You can petition it all you want but in the end the sad truth is that CCP is not doing anything about them, I have petition macrominers the last 2-3 months now and still the first I did petition are in the game doing their stuff.
First we where adviced to leave 1.0-.8 to avoid macrominers and so on... Now we can't even have low sec for ourself... ---------------------------------------------- "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things." 1 cor. |

Ever wonder why there are like 300-400 people in "State War Academy" chat but only a few are actually talking? Because around 60% are probably macro's and alts of isk farmers.
Go to any system with alot of belts with sec ratings of 0.6 - 1.0 and you will see alot of them in the belts. Many have stupid names with numbers others are chinese sounding. And most are in NPC corps. |

I luv these amazing stats that people come out with to complain about macro-miners..HAHAHhaa
Can i see the data you gathered to come to such a conclusion?
While there are obviuosly some macro miners in noob corps your probably gona find a similar amount of alt spys, and even *gosh* new players in those channels.

CCP is probably doing what they can to keep the numbers down however they are few and players are many.
If you really are concerned with them then act the snitch and go to the systems that people claim have them and collect info.
Once you have the info send that to CCP, if you are right then CCP will get rid of them.
The problem is that as long as people are willing to buy isk and other stuff for real cash they will keep comming back as amazingly you can make a living from selling ingame stuff for real cash.
The real sad thing is that the macrominers are just a few of the players that make it possible, there are after all alot faster ways to make isk than mine in highsec if you know what you are doing.
------------ 20. Is it true all pvpers have carebear alts? Yes, of course. I have so much fun looking up who's alt is who's

LOVE the maco mining! how else can a person get 20 jet cans of ore overnight whilst sleeping. Hey! a person gots to keep relacing the battleships da gankers keep blowing up.
it ain't a EULA thang. It's just being resourceful, like using escro to sell stuff.
long live the resourceful miners!!
(nowhere did i say i actually macro mine)

Actually it is a EULA thang. 7.3. You may not use macros or other stored rapid keystrokes or other patterns of play that facilitate acquisition of items, currency, objects, character attributes, rank or status at an accelerated rate when compared with ordinary Game play.
People say that the Macroers screw up the economy; I just think its fun finding them and disrupting their operations.

Edited by: Lexandrius Megens on 13/12/2005 20:09:40 Edited by: Lexandrius Megens on 13/12/2005 20:09:21 There are a LOT of them. Just go near high sec space and you find them by the doesens per system.
The frustrating thing is CCP is not making any kind of official statement to what they are about to to about it. I had 1 responce to a expliot petition that i signed and they would take that to the higher ops, but after a while i still dont have any kind of responce as to what CCP is going or doing about it. I am afraid CCP will not take macros high enough and if thats the case then why did CCP make de rules??? If there are rules, there has to be rule inforcement! ___________________________________________

Or, you COULD just move to 0.0 - better ore, and if you see a macro miner / ore thief / person whose name annoys you / someone who isn't blue you can shoot him!

Well heres a good rule of thumb, there is a macro thread for every macro acccount. And there is a post with an insane statistic "78.2% of all eve acounts macro mine 24 7 OMG!" for every macro miner.

well ive seen lots of em dont bother petitioning as nothing is done just steal their ore and move on - headsd in the sand - can marking and eye for eye in RMR will change it

Not only that, if they're particularly dumb macros, you can swap out your can for theirs and name it what their can was named. Then their hauler takes it out of your can in RMR and you can annihilate him, or at least freeze up the macro. :) Or so I'm told.

That is so similar to what was told a few months ago.. well maybe half a year ago.
then it was move out of noob systems, problem solved.
Now even macro/isk farmers have moved out of noobsystems... so your solution would be to let 1.0-0.5 be macrosystems... and below should be all players ?? that is something only you would benefit of because you probably hunt others and need desperatly more (non fighting) people there.
To shut the eyes down for macro/isk farmers is not and will never be a good idea.

Or you can kill them...
Reservoir Dogs is a group of players, alts really, supported by a number of parent corps, whose purpose is to kill them as fast as we can. Over the weekend we destroyed upwards of 20 macros in Jita, with an overall total surpassing 60 for the short time we've been in business.
We've shown the Macro's and the isk farmers that they are not safe in 1.0. And we will hit them again and again. One Toon we have killed 4 times this week. Still he sits in the ice belt mining aways with no complaint.
So, before they wipe out all the minerals in your home system - I recommend that you hit them hard and fast.

All macrominers I met were from China. Being some time in Lineage I know few Chineese words. And I used my limited knowledge to check who is mister macrominer. Yes-yes-yes, everybody was from China. So it is normal plague similar to Lineage's one. And as Ncsoft CCp also looks not very concerned with macrorunners. Sad.

To identify a macroer...
- Look at his can names if any... Simple names like 11111 and 222222 and such are a sign but not conclusive.... - Watch for a while, if they have a pattern, cluster together and fire everywhere, good chance. - Talk with them, If they refuse to communicate on any level, local or personal then your chances of having a macro miner are high.
One thing to be aware of however, is that people of all ages and origins play this game... you could have a genuine macroer or you could have a fella with 2 or 3 accounts and really crappy english.
A tactic me and some friends developed to catch macroers is to use the above to identify suspected macros and took thier ore... if they didnt say anything and simply moved off to another belt we listed and reported them. If they said anything, the plan was to give thier ore back... we havnt had any complain yet and the belts looked alot healthier in my system for a while.
