I got the 6230 when it first came out, just happened to be the 'new phone' on the block. got one for me and my gf, so that everything we ever do would always be compatible, including sharing batteries etc etc.
1 year later, contract period 'over' and I've upgraded both me and my GF to teh 6230i, which is EVEN BETTER than its older brother. I don't own an MP3 player, iPOD or anything like that, i've always been one for the near perfect sound quality and stuck to CD, MD, and recently took the leap to MP3, by playing them on my nokia.
Its got a music player, which plays MP3s, and an MMC memory card slot, so i got myself a 512MB MMC card, filled it with PHAT TUNES, and love it to bits. I play music whenever and wherever i can, including on loudspeaker lol.
It makes me love it more when i got some phat tunes on it like Studio B: I see girls, and the catchy Kanye West: Touch the sky.
:-)
Just needed to share my happiness with y'all! :-)
ps: no, i dont work for nokia LMAO

i'm sure i had a point to this thread, i dont know wot it was though. sorry folks. lol. anyone got anything to say about their phone?
oooh, i just rememebered how chuffed i was about the contract, so i'll share that too. wont say wot network though. :-S .........
orignally, it was 25 per month, for 200mins, 200 texts for 6 months, then 100 and 100 for the remaining 6 months - pretty c@ck i think you'll agree. To stop me from closing the contract, they offered me 500 mins, 200 texts, a new phone (the 6230i), keep the old phone, for only ú15 per month - for the whole 12 months! pretty neat methinks. oh, and insurace is ú5 per month, which im gonna have, so ú20 a month now :-)
__please__ dont flame and tell me thats still rubbish, i really wouldn't like to hear that. lol.

I don't mean to go off topic but don't things on a minidisc have a lower audio quality than cd. Since it does have to be compressed to fit onto that tiny cd disc thingy.

In hopes of completing my rich bastard image, I'm getting a Nokia 8801. It's the slickest phone ever invented.

Yes, this is about my level of enthusiasm for mobile phones too.

Yeah, mines crap. It's an old decrepid Nokia NGage QD which I've had for about 2 years and only ever had one game on, Tony Hawks (which I only completed about a week or so ago). People still think its 'the latest thing', even though the rubber is coming away form the phone and the screen has been melted by a stray ciggy or hot rock... Must remember to get that samsung flip-phone i have unblocked so I can use it for something other than Voda...

'its laser is more accurate'???
I'm not sure of the track pitch on Minidiscs, but they use Sonys proprietary ATRAC compression system, which IS lossy.
Standard Minidiscs have a capacity of around 130mb, compared to a CDs 700mb.
ATRAC completely sucked when minidiscs were first released, and the audio quality was very poor. The latest versions compare favorably to mp3, wma, and other popular formats.
The standard minidisc bitrate is 292kbits/s, though recent 'MDLP' players reduce this significantly to fit more on the disk. Sony have just started making HiMD players that use special 1gb disks, but these are rare and expensive atm.
Theoretically MDs are a lower audio quality than CDs, but provided you are not using the 'long play' modes, its highly unlikely anyone will notice the difference. Can you tell the difference between a 256kbit/sec mp3 and a CD? Not many people can :)

Personally I like Sony Ericsson more, I've never been a mainsream guy I'm 17 and i listen to music my parents used to listen to(not mainstream). I have a K750i and i love it to bits... got a great deal too, I got a 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo for the same price as a K750i with a 128MB Memory Stick Pro Duo. So I listen to tunes wherever I go the only downside to it is that you have to use the hands free set to listen to the tunes or use the loudspeaker. Since I bought this phone 4 other ppl in my class have bought it so either it's a great phone or I'm a very convincing guy...

Just about to put Ray Parker Jr's Ghostbusters on my phone.
Minidisc is very nearly CD quality. apparently. i use MD's and they sound pretty good to me. I'm sure they have nearly 44.1KHz sampling, last time i heard anything about them.

Absolutely wonderful and surprisingly sturdy too, this phone has survived more accidental abuse than any mobile-phone I¦ve ever owned.
