- Players are able to take matters into their own hands to protect themselves and their resources with the 'Eye for an Eye' and JetCan flagging changes.
Are there any details on this?

Aye, but is it like an assult on your gang, or can only you open fire? I've yet to read anything about that

Good question, dunno really. All that matters to me is if I can kill em. I believe it is just the owner or people would exploit the gang thing. You could leave a can sitting in belt and have a whole gang ready to kill em when they see a lone can sitting there. But again I dunno.

Quote: jettison canister flagging-If a pilot takes anything from your jettisoned canister, then your gang and/or your corporations will flag that pilot as a thief, and you are permitted to open fire on the pilot responsible for stealing your loot. CONCORD will neither enforce nor interfere with the matter, so it is up to the owner of the stolen property to exercise his or her right. Be warned that this could be used as a trap to lure smaller fleets into sanctioned engagements
So its you and your gang that can open fire. Not sure if NPC loot cans or cans from other player you have shoot are included in these new rules.

Edited by: Corisar on 14/12/2005 06:36:42 It might be that anyone in your corperation would be able to shoot them... when you, as a player, own something like a jet can, it also marks it as posession of your corperation.
Otherwise, the flagged ore thief is still gonna get away scot free cause how many serious miners (that'd be the ones using jetcans) cary an assload of guns sufficient to rip a hauler to shreds on a moments notice ?
Loot cans are unowned by default so probably wont be affected... unless they change that in the near future.

It still won't help, of course. It means you can gank the no-account one-day-old character that actually takes the stuff out of your can, but when he puts into his own can for his main to take, you can't take it back without his main, armed to the teeth in a battleship, splattering you across the belt.
If anything, it's like to make ore-theft more of a problem, because they can not only steal your ore, but blow up your ship as well. Even more fun for the griefers.

A few weeks ago I hopped on Singularity for some playing. Shot some NPC's, from what I can remember their loot cans were getting flagged with my Corp ID which implies that they will be included under these rules.
That said, this was a few weeks back so it might have changed, and besides I was going Ooooo, Blood Raider BattleCruiser and Oooooo, Blood Raider Destroyer and Oooooo, three battleship spawn in really sucky 0.0 rather than paying any real attention to the loot.
