Hi
I was griefed in help channel with bounties for asking a questionw I started EVE in a few years ago but due to having to go to university I had to drop out and have just resubbedw
I think the bounty system is messed up, I have had 14 million isk put on me I have perfect security status in 8 different locations in the space of about an hour for asking how to make iskw
It is a pretty reasonable questionw Why is it even possible to put a bounty on a person who has done nothing?w I can't go and put a bountry on my next door neighbor or the guy in the service station so why are people able to ruin the experience of new players in this way?w
Doesnt really make much sense does it?w especially when it happens in a help channel designed to help people in game who are neww.
Thanksw |

Because each time someone kills you, they get paid 20% of the ships value from the bounty pool.
What's unfair about them? Somebody wanted to put a bounty on you, they did. Just like every other bounty. Poops and Giggles is a perfectly valid reason for doing that. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

Get in a BC and insure it, undock from Jita 4-4, steal from one of the ganker cans, wait 1 minute, bounty gone.
As for placing bounties on otherwise lawful players, it's necessary. There are many reasons someone may want to place a bounty on someone. For example, I'm a trader, and threatened a giant bounty on a freighter character because he claimed a courier I added 3 extra zeros to. Result, I got 1/2 of it back. He was naturally a high sec status, carebear player...
I agree that it's lame to get tiny bounties from chat channels or from random sources. I have an alt with a bounty and he's never said a word in a single channel. The solution is to raise the minimum bounty to something reasonable like 5-10m, imo. |

At one point you had to have a negative sec status before a bounty could be applied, then a few expansions ago, CCP decided that was boring and needed more tears to fuel the forum server, so they made it so everyone could have a bounty applied.
Not sure of the logic behind that move, but hey it's here so you just have to deal with it.
It isn't much to worry about at that level, even big bounties are a bit meh, you could have a billion isk bounty and if someone shoots you when you're in a cheap ship then they get very little.
Ignore it, yes I guess the Wanted sign on your picture is an annoyance, but meh it's eve, and people do that kind of stuff for a kick as they're a bunch of weirdos |

The logic is very simple. The same people that make constant and frivolous petitions are the ones that get upset by the meaningless bounties. Now CCP get revenge and we can all giggle at people like the OP. |

Um, Yes you can put a bounty on your neighbor or the guy in the service station. Simply go to your local lowlife bar, say "the first person to beat up that guy at the service station shall receive $$$ from me". [NOTE: this is hypothetical... don't do this at home kids]
Anyway, Man-up!
Sheesh, if I wasn't out of the county at the moment, I'd bounty you simply for that name.

No. Anyone can kill you with or without having a bounty on you. In high-sec will it have consequences for the attacker afterwards however. CONCORD will shoot them down and they will lose their ship. Because the ship will be more valuable than what an attacker can get from a gank should you not worry about it. The bounty only makes you look cool if it was not for those boobs. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |

Anyone can kill you at anytime, regardless of whether you have a bounty or not.
The sec status of the system you're in changes the specifics (high-sec is generally quite safe) but ultimately if you're undocked, you can be killed.
The bounty might act as an incentive...if it were more than 14 million. 14 billion and you might see some trouble even in highsec. But at 14 million, you can pretty much be assured that no one will gank you for your pitiful bounty.,
P.S. whining about having a bounty on you on the forums is a good way to get the bounty increased. |

Not really griefing. It is more likely the ones that put the bounty's on you were helping you to understand that a lot of people in eve online are asshats toward others. Play EvE how you want to play it and do not let others dictate how you play. Evolve your playstyle to protect yourself from others! Even in "PVE", "PVP" is there, lurking in the shadows. |

Nope, doesn't make sense at all. How is one "griefed" by a bounty? Is the bounty hurting you at all? Does it stop you from logging in? Does it decrease your sec status and standings so you can't run missions? Does it prevent you from joining corporations or alliances? Does it stop you from defending yourself or attacking other players?
Grow up. Deal with it. Or go play WoW.

Bounties.
Killrights.
Two seperate things. Google them both.
Just don't freak out so much man, it's not like people can kill you legally in hisec or anything. They just get paid whenever they do happen to kill you, wherever that may be. Since the payout is only 20% of what you are currently flying it's almost never profitable to gank someone for their bounty. The person that bountied you basicly subscribed himself to a mailing list of your lossmails and nothing more. |

Bounties are the new greifing in EvE since the revamp, try and keep up.
