Are all blockade runners built equally or are there some that are better than the rest? |

okoolos rimmer wrote:https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1487988 No offence, but I took a quick look over the link and when I saw the mentioning of the Fenrir as being an "underwhelming freighter" could I only shake my head at this guy. Some stuff is right, but other things are just bold nonsense. Each race has their pros and cons, but the Fenrir is the fastest freighter and is by far the best freighter when one does not need to move more than 800k-860k m3. And Minmatar haulers can be shield-tanked with cargo expanders in the low and posses a high agility, which for many means more than anything. That one guy made some pretty dumb judgements.
My suggestion is to stick with your strongest race before you start cross training when you have a young character.
If you play EVE long enough then train for each of them or just play around with EFT and see for yourself. Might be that whatever it is you want to move does not quite fit into a ship and limits your choices, which is something only you will know.
Otherwise wait for the rebalance and read the thread in F&ID on coming changes. See here. While it does not say anything on the T2 haulers or freighters does it give a first idea on the scale of changes, like second high-slot, drone bays and specialised cargo holds. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |

For blockade runners: the Prowler is the most agile and has a utility high, making it good for wormholes, but it has reduced capacity with only two low slots. The Viator can carry a little over 10,000 m3 of cargo, while the Prorator can carry almost 11,000; the Viator can fit two shield hardeners alongside a MWD, while the Prorator can only fit one; and if fitted for agility instead of cargo space, the Prorator has four low slots for nanofibers to the Viator's three (one is usually dedicated to a warp core stab for agility setups).
I don't know of anyone who'd fly a Crane if they could fly any of the other three. "Nevertheless a prince ought to inspire fear in such a way that, if he does not win love, he avoids hatred..." - Niccolo Machiavelli-á |

The Fenrir is the nicest looking Freighter. I'm praying, well I would if I wasn't an atheist, that CCP does not 'rebalance' the Freighter class of ships. With only one per race I really don't see any need for them to be touched. It really will stink of isk sink if they do add extra materials to them as well. |

I suppose Prowler 2HS is nice for exploration and WH stuff but the Crane is viable for opener's low sec hauling needs. I believe that the Crane has better hp and cargo with an align time which is only about 0.1 sec slower when fitted and an extra MS. I personally would side with a Viator for high sec and Crane if you are using it for only low sec hauling.
Edit: Marc Callan's post is very solid. I just wanted to chime in for the Crane. |

Cargo fitted Viator can haul a flat-packed hac (ie something you can't really reproc to move), or 2x 5000m3 things. ie being on a particular side of a particular round number can be handy sometimes.
