Hi guys,
since Odyssee, the number of visitors to our wh has significantly increased and we embrace the opportunity to learn more about wh PVP. We are happy to go after visitors but being not PVP pros (yet) we often learn from defeat  .
Particularily, visitors in cloaky Proteus seem to develop into a pest. I understand that you need neuts as counter. However, still being on the steep part of learning curve, I rather do not want to get in Loki or other T3's to chase Proteus visitors (ISK wise and skill point loss wise).
I wanted to ask you if there are neut/dps fits around for cheaper alternatives, e.g. T1 or T2 cruisers, BC's for playing with the Proteus?
Any suggestions for fits or strategies would be welcome. Anything that helps to go after them .. even if I still die trying to learn the ropes.

pick t2 ships with high kin/therm resist.
iirc a 1k dps prot does less 200 dps to a tengu. |

Take pilgrim with neuts and two webs + one medium/long range dps.
Tactic:
Scram and 2 web on the proteus (he cant move) orbit him at 10km (he must use less dps null ammo against void) use your ecm drones (dont forget use your tracking disruptor with script on him and he cant hit your drones) to jamm him and use all your neuts to dry their cap. Use dps to kill not moving, jammed capped out "overpowered" Proteus. |

I assume those visiting Proteuses always have a couple of friends behind them, right? Killing a lone T3 is very easy if you have two or more pilots. Jam and/or neut it, then just grind it down.
Falcon and Pilgrim will always work. Falcon so it cannot fight back and Pilgrim removes any active tank and kills it with its drones. Curse works even better but of course harder to hide because no cloak.

If the cloaky proteus doesn't have cap boosters rhen a single cruor should be engouh to cap the dude out.
If you want to go cheaper use a few dragoons or an armageddon(doesn't die as fast as the others).
Even with a cap booster it will only take a bit longer... .
Watch out though for his friends they are mostly very tanky and are used to hold stuff until reinforcements arrive.

I don't think there is a single t1/t2 ship that will allow you to catch and kill a proteus on your own. To reliably and consistently catch them and not get killed all the time, you are going to need at least two ships, one of which being a bubbler/fast-tackler.

Thanks for the interesting suggestions. Have not considered Amaar ships because my toons are either CaldarixGallente or Minmatar. Will check with evemon how long it will take to train up? Any particular fits suggested?

The problem with ships like the Armageddon is that the target will see it and know it's too dangerous to engage, so he will just leave... and possibly come back with a lot more people ;)
Imho you need something that remains cloaked all the time and is never seen by the intruder until it decloaks on him and kills him. Since you should always scout your static anyway, just cloak a Falcon or Pilgrim there as soon as you log in.

Falcon should be no problem but Pilgrim I cannot fly for a long time. I could cloak up the Falcon and have an alt in non-threat ship T1 prober at POS to re-ship to DPS/Neut ship as soon the Falcon get the visitor locked-down. Any recommendations for that role? Vexor/Myrm? Probably, we all will die when his/hers friends show up but as long as it is a GF who cares. |

You are correct, it alone won't be engough first get it to attack something like a BC wich then hold point.
Bring in the neuts and the proteus will get capped out faster then he shoots down the BC or the neut ship.
Besides most people will only shoot the tacle ships first and then the neuts... . |

anything that can kite fast enough and keep point should work. proteus want to be at in-your-face distance.
and if its just a proteus, anything + logistics will always beat anything without logistics. 2 talos and a t1 support cruiser will crush pretty much any t3 as long as the support cruiser doesnt get caught |

U can't really catch a cloaky proteus in any of the ships posted above if the pilot knows what he's doing.
You'll either have to camp the wh he came from with fast tackle and a dic/hic OR get him to engage a bait ship to expose himself
Don't bring out any ships u cannot really afford to lose unless you are 100% sure that it is in fact this mythical one single lone proteus, or if u are confident u can also take on his friends.

Can seriously contest any buffer fit T3. Unless it's rail/HML fit or something... Anyway, definitely will beat a buffer blaster proteus.

Any Cov Cloaky ship is a PITA to catch...they are easier to Bait it out. Site running Drake set up for Kin/Therm resists and a web and scram. Should be up to 75K of shield EHP. Then you need a 2nd pilot to bring out anyship with a few neuts and some DPS. A neut Myrm. 2-3 neuts in the Highs with a set of Heavy Drones would do it.
But that's the best thing about cov cloaked ships is YOU dictate when the fight will take place. Since you can just stay at range and cloaked. It's like you were never there :) |

Bate ship orca and 2 tanky retrivers in a grav have a nut myrmidon and a takle interceptor or af in the orca to switch to when he unclocks
