FYI, ATI cards are working well in EVE, if not even faster.

I just installed a GeForce 6800 GT w/ 256MB of ram, and noticed that the station textures on the outside of Amarr stations look distorted and flash intermittently. That didn't happen with my old 4600...whose fan died, which in turn gave me a (lame) excuse to upgrade my hardware.
Still, how can you check the fps in the client? Through the nVidia software? And what version of Direct X are you using? I'm using 9c. And while I can't say which specific driver version number I'm using, the first thing I did after I installed the card was visit nVidia.com for the latest driver...

the lag is a bigger issue atm for me than fps but still a slight reduction but still quite reasonable

Hmmm... 49 fps in station with a plain 6800. Forceware version 77.72.

I wrecked 3 hours with the current 81.95 driver, it simply won't work with EVE (I had nice red stencil shadow).
Going back to 77.72 ... no problem.

i use the 8.1.9.5 ones and i get like 30 FPS :( in station and 35 outside. I used to get bout 50 in station and 90 outside!!! this is discraceful!
Also FYI i havnt installed anything since the last time i played Eve on Cold War. And havnt downloaded anything apart from the patch. Its really annoying to see such a drop in FPS. Means i cant go out pirating really i have fears of lagging out :'(

78.01 seems to work just the same as it did before RMR for me (BFG GF 7800 Ultra 256mb AGP). Maybe I won't touch my drivers for the time being. |

Dood, that's soooo wrong.
My suckeh 5700LE, duron 1600 1gig ram goes faster than that, even when I only had 512 ram I had better fps than that , currently 30 fps when docked
I shall make the usual suggestions of scan disc, defrag, ad scanning/cleaning.
What's your resolution btw and your AA & ASF settings?

Same issue.
6800 GT Overclocked, with NView settings set to performance I am experiencing a decrease in FPS by about 20-30% from the NEW drivers 81.xx over my older drivers 77.xx.
My new drivers are running fine with Counterstrike and other games it seems.

CCP are up to their eyeballs in issues at the moment, fixing driver related FPS is probably going to be last on their list unfortunately...
Just don't bring up your FPS window and play (if you can). |

that shouldnt matter when Pre-Patch i had 50-90 FPS all over the board
Battlefield 2, Counterstrike Source etc... all giving me my usual super FPS
Just eve, guess ill leave eve alone for a few days, see how it blows over.
Feel a little sorry for my friend who i was helpign in a free trial past 4 days, then this happens :P
Glad he is patient as i spend 3mil + my time on him for skills, ships etc.. _________________________________

Psym0n,
I hate to say it, that even with my ueber-computer and graphics card, out of EVERY game I have ever played, EvE always performs the worst. No matter how I configure any settings, EvE, or anything else for that matter. I've just come to accept it. |

Drivers 81.85 last week and 81.95 this week ( i use Detonator R.I.P. after uninstalling old ones ) and I had no issues last night out in 0.0. Runs seemingly faster tbh. Maybe its just how you updated your drivers?
Edit : Please don't reply with, "but it works in other games like bf2 etc." This doesn't mean much between a MMO and a FPS.

no noticeable change between 81.87/81.95 or pre/post RMR using a 7800GT.
to fix the flashing textures on the amarr stations, there's a setting in eve options, I think it's the dropdown menu with Z buffer and stuff.

BFG6800GT OC, 81.95 by http://www.tweaksrus.com, and I'm getting exactly the same FPS in RMR as before the patch. Usually 70-100 depending on combat and effects.
I'd try using drivercleaner to remove all your drivers, and reinstall the latest forceware or a 3rd party driver set.

FYI the flickering is to do with the z-buffer, which all modern graphics cards use now. Your old TI cards and such would of used the w-buffer. The trouble with the z-buffer, is there's something called "z-fighting" wereas one texture is trying to fight another texture for the "top possition". This is why you see the flickering. It happens to nearly everyone.

Due so many resets havent tryed more than 1-2 hours, but if it is the same as on SiSi (were), than should work without problems whole day.
And I have also strange textures on amarr stations (was on SiSI too).
Before patch cleared cache folder, all other setting are the same as pre-RMR.

I'm using the 8.1.9.5 driver with my 256mb 6800GT @ 1280x1200 and get about 75-85fps in station. Was more like 100fps before the patch. Does my bum look big in this cape? |
