Edited by: Tehel Necrona on 15/08/2003 18:47:04 I appreciate the fustration at losing ones ship when not expecting it, but to be frank and i have had friends who have lost their ship to this issue as well so its not just because tank is whining about it that i'm argueing against it, but you _SHOULD_ expect it.
The issue at hand here is realisim. Charles Manson did not walk around the streets of new york. You are wanted criminals in civilised space and should be treated in the same way any criminal would, extremley harshly.
Perhaps instant lock downs and what not come across as somewhat harsh and i do believe that CCP should allow the pirates to say, enter new cladari with 20 or so battleships (an invasion force) or be able to run, but not engage and destroy passers by without risking their ship.
Sorry to have to bring this up, but whining about this is just ridiculous. </carebear whinge>

First off to defend myself from flames from people here. 2 GM's stated I wasn't exploiting. Yulai had a security bug and I left as soon as I got the warning, I did not know I was exploiting there.
Second, as far as any other systems that didnt have the police bug, you died fair n square, not my fault you guys were afk. I for one was not afk when i got blown up, I had 0 time to react. I was being attacked even before I got outa the "Entering SpacE". ---

"Yulai had a security bug and I left as soon as I got the warning, I did not know I was exploiting there."
BS Tank. You left because you knew if you stayed you'd be banned, not because you suddenly were clued into the fact that there was a bug there. You knew full well there was a bug with concord in Yulai, but of course you won't admit that on the boards, I wouldn't either.

" i do believe that CCP should allow the pirates to say, enter new cladari with 20 or so battleships (an invasion force)"
Hahaah, This would rock!! Me thinks you have the right idea. Reminds me of when the native americans, can't remember which tribe, seized alcatraz island back in the 70's claiming it was now under their control, citing some obscure claim that it was always under their sovereignty. Hmm, who knows it could've been, seeing as how the gov't always seems to conveniently "forget" about the treaties they signed with them.
Anyways, this could be considered even an "event" in the world of eve. I think it would even give a lot of people something to do, to get away from the tedium of mining and trading all the time.

Edited by: Tehel Necrona on 15/08/2003 19:53:22 Yep, player invasions of NPC territory should be a possiblity :)
Essentially like m0o were in Lonetrek, just they'd need a much larger force to deal operate against Concord waves and of course empire fleets.

to quote techno lisa...
you want some whine with that cheese?
and i supposed if concord and empire fleets kick us out of lonetrek, then pirate fleets would kick you ass out of venal?
oooh right you didnt think of that did you?
here we can see a classic example of the famous formula as to why this game is going to hell:
noobs + opinions = crap game
yes thats right cos i said so...

Tank,
How long have you been playing EVE? A long time right? You KNOW empire space is supposed to be safe for players AND you know from all the patches that you aren't really even supposed to be able to get into deep empire space with your -10.0 rating correct?
Yet you were there jumping from one 1.0 system to the next "teaching a lesson" to players afk mining.
Don't come here looking for sympathy. I for one like legitimate pirates but you are no pirate. You INTENTIONALLY took advantage of a game flaw. Didn't it occur to you "Hey, this is 1.0 space, I'm not even supposed to be here"?????? Why did it take a GM warning you to even get you to leave??????
The responsible thing to do would be to petition as a "bug" saying "Hey, I'm in 1.0 space PK'ing everyone in sight and not being killed by Concord". Instead you obviously waited until a GM appeared (obviously after player petitions were filed) to leave - and then you went to ANOTHER 1.0 system.
This isn't a flame its a fact. Read above what you did and tell me you were being a "pirate"?????

Ohhh sorry I mean..they kill lotsa pirates and just leave the cans floating cos they too damn important and busy to clean em up and can't afford to waste the ammo anyway

Yeah step 2 for CONCORD should be to release about 20 drones each to deliver that extra lag punch, but of course they are used in battle, if they ever manage to reach their target before the turrets do the job.

It is interesting. Nobody has posted in this thread, that he has lost a ship to an exploiting pirate.
Yet CCP has helped the carebear movement after its latest whinage fests on the official forums with some warnings and bans and once again game mechanics changes. Looks like making an elephant out of fly for me.
I think the game should be relaunched after every patch. At least there should be an option to demand the money back for the part of the subscription which has still to run. In case you wake up in happy hippo carebear land with no guns. -- Stories: #1 --

Whats the point?
We all know it happens, and I think most people dont bother as they'd then have to listen to your blinkered, sanctimonious bs.

That topic has been discussed and laughed at many times. You want to haul around multimillions in cargo?
Protect it.
You want to haul around multimillions in cargo without escorts?
Expect to lose it.

Let me get this straight...
You can't find a way to haul Kernite without getting blown up by m0o? Repeatedly even?
There are whole regions where m0o and other pirates never go that has kernite. Go there. Mine there. Refine there. Haul there.
But tacking on 5 hours of travel time because the second your ship enters space, everything in the solar system is gonna go psycho on you isn't an option.

Im actually in one now.
You have to understand though- some of us are new to this, we might not have hours and hours at our disposal.
Its a thing that continually irks me with online gaming- noobs are treated as idiots (this ridiculous carebear tag), maybe in 2 months time I'll have a condescending air of superiority about me and ignore the fact that I once had to learn the quirks of this game.
Reason I travel far is simply to get the best price for Kernite- unfortunately on a couple of days wherever I went Moo were around.
As I said maybe I was just unlucky.

Luck is luck. Some days good, some days bad. But in the end, we really do make our own luck.
Getting mad at the pirates before trying different ways to beat them, outsmart them or simply out wait them isn't a valid solution. Most the people you see complaining on these forums about piracy rarely tried any solution other than "Autopilot" to solve their pirate problem.

I avoid the Autopilot- its sh1te.
Im not mad at pirates- its just I cannot see the fun in killing carebears all day long.
Especially when they dont ask for loot- instead just opening fire, followed by an autodestruct (now Ive found a use for it!).
IMHO its neither skillful or intelligent.
Still I have found one nice scam- loads of Ore buy orders for a number of stupidly low prices across a system, can you believe that some people actually sell Kernite for 10isk?
I leave it a week then go hoover it all up and sell it on.
