Edited by: Shodana on 17/12/2005 03:19:24 Edited by: Shodana on 17/12/2005 03:16:19 yep, a totally fubar'd system that is pro-criminal.
Example 1: -3.0 pirates jumps in system, blows up belt hunter, then warps around until not flagged. The victim will have kill rights. While flagged, the guy is a free kill for anyone, but when not flagged this -3.0 if killed will have kill rights on whoever kills him. Example 2: same as ex 1, but belt hunter has that stupid yellow timer for shooting rats. Guess what, he doesn't have the -3 pirate in his kill rights. Example 3: -3.0 pirate does what he did in ex 1, but after the flag expires he is killed at a planet. He now has kill rights against the guy who nailed him.
This works equally well if you insert "Anti-pirate/Vigilante" for pirate.
How the hell does this "I4I" system prevent abuse by pirates? Atm, most gankers just warp around or sit at a safe until no longer flagged, then use an insta to get out of system. Now, when the locals rise up to take down that pirate whose criminal flag has expired, they will end up on his kill rights for blowing him up.
This system needs limits. I don't care if the player is a -4.99 to -1.0 pirate or the rate positive sec pirate, nor if they are a self-proclaimed "anti-pirate".
- If player has been criminally flagged within 48h of ship destruction, they cannot utilize "I4I" to avenge their loss. After all, they have engaged in some form of criminal behavior -schrumm.
- If player has players on their kill rights and becomes criminally flagged, their kill rights are revoked -their list empties. Bummer, sucks doesn't it. Too bad, don't be naughty or the law won't be on your side.
Personally, I don't think anyone -4.99999 to -1.0 should have kill rights at all, regardless of how the sec rating got that way. The Criminals shouldn't be able to use the system to keep pirating (now with license to go after those who hunt them), nor should the vigilante be able to turn to the law to redress their loss as they have abandoned the law and taken matters into their own hands.
So, yeah, imho, I think this new "I4I" system stinks. It is far too liberally applied. Get rid of that damnable "agression time" for attacking npcs. Really think that is what kept the pirate (who laid the final blow) off their kill rights.
Fix the system and put some limits in place. |

ok I got to example 3 and stopped reading
1) Have you actually tested it to see if this is the case if you havenĘt id be very surprised if it works as you say...
2) yellow timer when shooting rats shows aggression to the pirate faction your attacking, NOT every other player around, so the pirate will still get flagged (unless it is really bugged, I donĘt think it is.. even ccp couldnĘt let a bug that bad slip, right?)
3) See point one... Have you tested it? I really donĘt think this is how it works, if you kill someone you have a kill rights to they shouldnĘt receive one against you
I havenĘt tried it myself but those are pretty obvious flaws in the system you described, too obvious I think for ccp to have missed them

I don't see the problem,
If you kill me, I get kill rights on you.
If I kill you, you get kill rights on me.
Flagging system works just the same as before.
Your or my sec status is superflous unless one of us is -5.
I think in your examples you should replace -3 pirate and belt hunter for the word "player", then it makes more sense.

If you kill someone, that player has the right to kill you within the month, but when you do kill him under the terms of Eye for an Eye, he does not get the right the kill you again. It only works once.

I think you should learn how it works before running to the forums with a kneejerk reaction.
Have you tested your theories? I dont think they sound accurate at all/

hmmm... yeah, tested. Corpie lost enyo while belt hunting to a -3.3 player who ganked them, laid the final blow, and my corpie does not have the guy in their kill rights. Said Corpie had that annoying little timer running whereas when my buddy blew me up in testing I was not ratting. I have kill rights on him.
Double tested... Just tested with timer running while ratting, had buddy come in to kill me... I have kill rights on him. STill no explanation of why my corpie does not have kill rights for the guy who blew up his enyo.
gotta love bugs
Yes, tested. A kneejerk reaction by the uninformed... NO.
CCP's lack of infomation is a real joy on this.

Who fired first? If your mate fired upon the -3.3 player first, the -3.3 player was DEFENDING himself.

Hmmm. What if 3 ganged pirates attack Ratter X. Pirate A opens fire and gets criminally flagged. Ratter X destroys pirate A, then starts firing on Pirate B. Pirate B responds and destroys Ratter X, with the help of Pirate C who hasn't fired a single shot until now.
Who has kill rights on who?

No it doesn't, my kill rights says that I can be killed by people who were not podded.

I was wondering how long the eye for an eye lasted. So far I have collected 6 names in my "can be killed by" list, all for ship kills so the pod kill only idea was wrong.
I intend now to use this exciting feature to see how many names I can collect in the "can be killed by" list and it is going to make travel so much more fun.

Who has kill rights on who?
A flagged. X legally kills A. B opened fire and killed legally flagged X. C opened fire on criminally flagged X along with B, so he's okay. Nobody has kill rights.
Pretty sure that if A, B, and C had all concentrated fire, X would have died horribly without A losing his ship. A should kick the butts of B and C for not opening fire sooner. X would probably have only kill rights on the guy who laid the final blow, but not sure.
Keep us posted of tests and results. Not sure if kill rights are against the guy who lays the final blow or his whole gang. DEV's... post up some info so we don't all blow each other to pieces, no matter how much fun it is.
