I am wondering if medium neutron blasters on a Thorax have any chance of hitting small and fast moving ships? Does anyone having an idea about this?

Hmm..
Maybe you can bring along a webber to slow down the things that move too fast for your Medium Blasters?

The question isn't "do medium neutrons hit?", the question is "how will I get enough CPU to fit medium neutrons in a decent setup?"
As to your actual question: Yes, move in a line with the smaller ship. Do not let it orbit and do not orbit yourself. You might need a web. Use your superior hitpoints and tanking.

With ions and a 90% webber you can hit inty's pretty easily.

Edited by: Chalaim on 17/12/2005 10:46:35 Ok...thx for the answers. I will check if I can fit 5 medium blasters then. I guess you must web the opponent to be able to hit him if he is fast enough? Is there a protection against webbing?
So, I should not orbit my opponent to make me harder to hit? I shall rely on my HP and damage output?
Is CPU a problem for the thorax with medium blasters?

if the enemy is orbiting you and is much faster then you...
then use the aproch command and your ship will try to keep the ship infront of you...
thus keeping the tranvestral down abit...
and.... ALLWAYS PACK A WEBBER! ____________ The cargo bay is overloaded and cannot be made to fit Expanded Cargohold I. It is currently only capable of fitting 8772.12 units and it is currently jammed full with 9558.33 units. |

Hitting something is a funtion of the tracking speed, range and signature resolution of your weapon, the signature radius of your target and your transversal speed. Using a Heavy Neutron Blaster I, which is a Medium size blaster. Firing on a frigate - an Incursus with a signature radius of 44m. at three different transversal velocities, you'll see that speed and the size of your target, makes all the difference: Incursus @ 10, 50, 100
Here's another plot, of the same transversal velocities, but targeting a Thorax with a signature radius of 140m.: Thorax @ 10, 50, 100
And another of an interceptor, namely a Taranis with a signature radius of 36m.: Taranis @ 10, 50, 100
