A GM said that on SiSi these problems did not occur and are due to the number of users on Tranquility.
So obviously some memory leak or bug.
Maybe not allowing access to trial accounts and capping the limit of players to stay under the pressure threshold would be a good idea at this point seeing as the game is unplayable and this may relieve the pressure for some time and atleast let some play hasstle free.
If it don't work/help then no harm in trying it out anyway!

Edited by: Morberis on 17/12/2005 20:45:06 Lol no harm? The number of times I've had disconnects (even before RMR) has put a damper on my enthusiam for this game. The fact that the patch took a day out of my trial account has also lowered it, then theres the fact I need to use that online pay service if I want to subscribe, stopping me from even being able to test the game would most definately stop me from considering paying for it.
Especially considering thats what WoW does and that ****es people of bigtime even though they have other servers to play on, EVE doesn't so thats not really an option.

If you cap the maximum number of users what do you set it to? Would you be ****ed off when you attempt to login and get told maximum users exceeded try again in a couple of hours...... Im sure the user base will drop significantly.
Think carefully when considering that one.

Honestly no expansion or patch in this game has ever been 100% perfect, the same goes for all the other games I played. Just chill out and wait a few days and it will be fixed, I trust CCP because in the past they have fixed everything.

Edited by: xecutey on 17/12/2005 20:50:04 I still feel it is best to let some play, rather than having everyone being able to connect but not being able to play!
Also Trial users will be put off and will probabally not return if they are starting to play for the first time during all of this.
Veteran users will understand this situation for a few days untill everything is sorted.
I never played WOW but i remember them getting around there server workload problems in the same manner at the start.
If they cap the limit of players maybe they can cap there time online to 12hrs or something too so people queued up can enter eventually.
I know it is no ideal solution or situation to be in but at this point in time it seems the most viable way of doing things IMHO.

Dear Xecutey
I am a trial user and about to subscribe 4 new accounts and start playing eve seriously. If i would find out that CCP would only let real money players in, i would be so mad that i would go and play some other game. CCP will or would never be stupid enough to let only paying customers in, that would be a very bad business move, so you can forget it. Also you are very self centered person, and you don't give much tought to others, i know you are pay fot the services, but so will many trial users and when the trial users convert to real users, CCP can get better server upgrades etc...
Some times you need to think about others too, and you should have some patience, i know how hard it is when you can't play and stare your monitor... Think about others too, like others think about you. Your comment has been very stupid in my opinion.

I am a trial user... and when I log in I get a message about total accounts logged in, and trial accounts logged in. The message states something like "1456 of 3000" trial accounts logged in. so trial users are already limited to only 3000 slots.
With that being said... is this the type of stability the game normally has? Or is this just patch week blues?

This is not a regular occurance for the servers and it has a lot of people annoyed and i'll bet none of them are as annoyed as the dev's who went and tested this just for it to fallover on the 2nd day, so rather than ***** at them and make them even more annoyed and more likely to make mistakes (not accusing the devs of making a mistake tho) just get off of thier backs and stop whining and let them get on with it and fix it, CCP you have my full understanding and if this takes a few days to fix then please take the cluster down to address the problem rather than give us a semi working universe, granted i'll lose a few days training but if it gets the cluster running smooth then do it.

It is just an patch issue. Usually Eve is quite stable, similar to Linage or Eq2. I had no real problems before. May be one disconnect a week, may be less.

If you are buying 4 new accounts then why would a stop on trial users for a few days affect you?
How am i self-centered? i am only trying to come up with a solution as the problem between sisi and Tq seems to be over population. If so, then who do you think should have a higher privledge on access?
Also new trial accouNT users will take this bad period as being 'normal' and would never continue to play or buy the game, so i nthe end it does them better as they can see the game in its full glory when its been fixed.

true, maybe we could get even better stability by blocking the paying customers since there is more of them and only allow trial accounts in. This way trial users are happy and everyone else too!

Err, to the best of my knowledge there is a trial user cap.
It was 1000 players way back when but got increased.
A cap on paying customers? Thats quite simply a terrible idea.

even for a few days untill things are sorted and everyone can play? instead of everyone joining the server and no-one being able to play?
Atleast some peeps would get some play-time!
