So, one of my corp. members offered to sell me anything he doesn't want/need anymore, pretty much permanently. He HATES trade hubs, he hates dealing with buy/sell orders and anything of the like. So, i made a deal with him to buy all his stuff below jita price so i could still make a profit in jita. Jita is 32 jumps away from our HQ. How far below Jita price should i buy his stuff for so i can still make a profit would be fair and reasonable? I've no idea what would be fair. |

I suppose this depends upon many things: how much stuff i.e units, volume, value; where i.e. high or low/null sec; type of items i.e. liquidity; and so on.
In any case, you must make at least 10% profit, and 15% may be a fair middle of the road figure. Anything more than 25% may be unreasonable/unfair to your corp mate imho. Any colour you like. |

Figure out your hauling costs. Figure out a profit percentage you're both happy with, and do the math.
He's your corpmate. Just ask him how much he feels you should make on the deal. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

Offer to move and sell the items. After you sell them tell him you are keeping the isk and he has been scammed. "tbh most people don't care about removing local from highsec. depending on how expensive, dangerous and tedious the hauling is, i would charge between 15 and 25%

I would suggest brokering an agreement where by you sell the goods then take a cut for doing the work or work on a % of Jita buy with him receiving say 80% and you take what ever you make over that (this way you can sell directly to buy orders if needed to ensure quick turnaround on stuff / still make some profit).
Under no circumstances would I pay upfront for the stuff, if he can't be asked to sell it it could be that its pretty worthless ..in the grand scheme of things.
Also, for 32 jumps he would have to produce 10,000's m3 for me to consider such a thing especially if its just random loot / junk / salvage blah blah.
You want a situation that's easy and quick to get the ISK for both of you for it to work.

I usually do a % of the sale.
With such a long range, I would go 20% below Jita. |

Sometimes the best scams avoid deception. The trust of a useful idiot is worth a lot of ISK (assuming you are accurate and that the idiot is indeed useful, if not, you are the idiot).
Just pay them 35% of Jita price and never tell them you are scamming. Sure you are losing 35% of possible profit, but you might stand to make a lot more long term.
Also, Jita may not be your closest hub. Consider the others.

While Jita prices are a good reference, the best way to dispose of an item 32 jumps from Jita may not be hauling it to Jita. A desperate seller sees buy orders in Jita are higher than those in the local region, and makes plans to haul. But there may be local buyers who would pay extra to avoid a trip to Jita. I like to avoid moving stuff unnecessarily.

This comes down to the question - what is produced locally and what is consumed locally?
If you are in an area of lowsec with lots of exploration and PVE activity, no major wars and little/no capital ship activity, and the area is dangerous enough that people don't want to fly around in deadspace fits or in Hulks, you'd find something like this:
Produced locally in excess: Meta 8 and higher modules (deadspace) other than cheap propulsion mods Meta 4 items that are not used much in small gang PVP (eg sensor dampeners, active armor hardeners, remote shield transfer modules) Tech 1 salvage Tech 2 Meta 3-4 mining equipment
Consumed locally in excess: Ship hulls under 250m ISK, particularly ABCs, t1 cruisers, HACs, AFs and (if there's some capital activity) hictors. The latter may be over 300m locally. High quality ammunition (faction and tech 2) Deadspace propulsion mods that are at the cheaper end of the spectrum (B-type 1MN AB, etc) Tech 2 drones and guns High quality cheap tackle equipment (meta 4 warp scrams, tech 2 webs, and whatever the best long point is) 3-point warp scramblers (faction or better) Armor plates Cap booster charges, particularly faction ones Minerals in general (unless the area has quiet systems where people can mine out entire grav sites in relative safety)

Assuming high sec, I'd calculate freight cost to get it to the nearest viable trade hub, which is basically 1mil + .5mil per jump per bil using Red Frog, and take that plus 10% below Jita. If Jita is truly your closest hub, that comes out at 13.3%. If you're patient and don't mind items taking a while, you could undercut once a week; price fluctuations alone will guarantee that items will move quickly enough. If you see an item is volatile or its price is trending up (which implies supply-side constraints), you can safely post it at price plus 9% or so and it'll probably clear out for better gain.
Low/null sec, all bets are off of course. |

Have your friend assign all of the assets to me. I will arrange transport and sales. I will share with you 90% of what the net profit is for finding this deal. See Bio for isk doubling rules. -áIf you didn't read bio, chances are you helped fund those who did. |
