Okey, so the Mackinaw is the middle T2 barge. 55% reduction in ice miner cycle at maxed skills, and ca fit 2 ice miners.
The hulk is the big one, it has 7.5% increase to shield resistances per lvl! and 15% reduction in ice miner duration with maxed skills... and can fit 3 ice miners...
Is it just me or does it look like the Hulk is the better choice for ice mining, the Extra laser makes up for the longer cycle time im thinking
Im not that clever, or that motivated so im not going to fill everyones head with numbers.... but what do you all think?

Mackinaw: For T1 Ice Harvesters: 2000/(600 x .45) = 7.407 units ice per second For T2 Ice Harvesters: 2000/(400 x .45) = 11.111 units ice per second
Hulk: For T1 Ice Harvesters: 3000/(600 x .85) = 5.882 units ice per second For T2 Ice Harvesters: 3000/(400 x .85) = 8.824 units ice per second
So no, the extra laser does not make up for the longer cycle time. The Hulk will only beat the Mackinaw if the Hulk has T2 lasers and the Mackinaw does not.

err, your units are off
it should be m3 of ice/second not units of ice per second :)
Calculations are correct though :D

Whoops, sorry about that, fixed now. That would've been quite a lot of ice pulled in wouldn't it.

Right, thanks alot :)
Im just going to buy both, but the would the hulk be a better choice since i live in 0.0 / lowsec? I dont mine with an escort but theres always friendlys in system who warp to me if needed
And since you know how to do all that number stuff... how does the T2 compare to the T1 in bulk?

Should we assume that these ships are not yet available?

Because of the resists the Hulk would probably be a better choice for 0.0 or lowsec operations.

I don't think I understand this question.

Yes, I assume the BPOs will be given out through the research lottery, though from which corp is unknown. Unless ORE has RnD agents.

just curious people. What would be better for morphite? An apoc fully-fitted with mdcm2's or the new small t2 barge that has the skills?

I have access to all market data. Believe me, we have not reached anything close to deflation yet.

Yeh sorry that was poorly worded. I mean how much better is the Hulk than the Covetor for yield?
