i havent been in really any pvp so i havent had any first hand experience(rear stinging pain?) with these ships to know what they are like. for awhile really whichever i get is going to be mainly a mining ship, and probably fighting not the hardest npc pirates in the game. with that in mind for those who are familiar with these ships, which would you say is better? their stats seem so close its hard to choose(same slots, same cpu, same shields). obviously apoc can use 1 more miner then mega, which would help for the mining period. but what about the ship bonuses? i beleive apoc is 5% less cap use on energy wapons and 5% cap recharge, and mega is 5% dmg on hybrid weaps and 5% tracking speed. primarly i would only use energy weapons on npcs i would think. so in pvp is the dmg and tracking of mega overwhelmingly better then apocs cap recharge? or am i wrong in thinking that energy weapons really are best for npcs? and that they arent as big a capicator drain for the apoc? oh and as far as drones im not a huge fan of them so that might be relavent too. |

In my opinion amarr battleships perform better in npc-fighting because they:
-Have more turrets -Have no ammunition-needs, so all your bounty is realy yours -More low-slots to support your firepower/speed/cap recharge -offer more protection ;)
In general the amarr battleship bonus is a bit better for hunting because a higher caprecharge is a real lifesaver.
But in the end, you have to chose :)

Lasers are atm overpowered and best in both PvP and npc killing. The Apoc also has more armour/cap and vastly superior powergrid, in addition to the extra turret you already mentioned.
I would take the Apocalypse any day, but word on the forums is battleships will be balanced soon.

Edited by: Dragon Emperor on 16/08/2003 18:31:02 laser is not overpowered, tachyon is fine in current status, it's 425 rail's tracking need a little work, battleship is unbalanced because same race lv1 beat lv2, apoc is nowhere near overpowered, apoc/mega/tempest all need buff not nerf. armageddon/dominix/scorpion can beat their lv2 bs no doubt. if any one want bs now, get armageddon/dominix/scorpion for your style, don't waste time on lv2 bs atm till it's balanced.
BTW, laser need lots of skills to support, if you don't have good enough(at least lv4) energy system operation/energy management, controlled bursts, amarr battleship skills, don't use laser.

the apocalypse/armageddon ship is the ultimate npc hunting machine known to eve so far. get engineering to 4, electronics to 5, throw on 6 extruded heatsinks, 4 thacyons, 4 heavy modulated beams and four NPC loot rechargers. you can vape anything that comes within 100km of you. It's also a lot easier to use an Apoc to mine with.
8 Miner 2's and 8 Harvester - you can afford a 2nd battleship to fight with in no time.

EM 3, ESO 4, I use 3 tachyons + 4 250 gausses right now... I do use a lot of cap power relays though, but I never run out of cap (I chained 1x50k + 4x40k sanshas for 2 hours today, until the lag got too bad). Rechargerate 320 sec.

amarr ships are perfect npc hunters cause low med slots and very good nrgy weapon bonuses.

Lasers have better range and better tracking than both hybrid and projectile, and also dont need ammo. The amarr ship bonuses bring the cap use to an acceptable level, so that really isnt such a huge issue.
Damagewise lasers are about same as railguns, but miles ahead of projectiles.
You would probably have realized this by yourself if you had bothered to check the stats on the different weapons, or even better try them for yourself.

Tachyon = 70 energy/shot Dual 650mm Artillery Cannon (or any other L proj.) = 3 energy/shot

Sure, skills bring it to an acceptable level, but people using projectiles still have more cap for shield hardeners and such...

Ah... but consider range too. People using projectiles need to get in much closer to be truly effective. I haven't used any BS's yet so I don't have much clout in this debate, but I think that for the time being it is as people have stated. Amarr has a bit of an advantage for now.

LoL i have a armageddon and i use 4 thycs on and i have the right skills but somhow my cap is always low, but u seam to be the expert lol tel my what im doing wrong here bwhahahahah

Controlled bursts, ESO and EM lvl 4 + Battleship lvl 3 will keep your juice through any normal pvp encounter/battle.
Of course if you're fighting npcs with tachyons you'll get drained. Use mega pulse or something instead.
