Edited by: Eri Sawachika on 18/12/2005 13:25:48 well... it seems to me that ccp guys don't like ceptors so much, and they nerf them all times. what ceptor is? ceptor is ship with paper defence and high speed, good offence and tackling abilities. That was in beginning of interceptors. now they are becomingmore and more useless. why that? let's make little voyage in the past. ceptors was first tech2 ships that come with Castor. And they were really cool and usable. First nerfbait's strike to ceptors was sig penalty to mwd. but we, ceptor pilots have found way: oversized afterburner. Yea, it gave not so much speed to interceptor as mwd, but still kept it's sig and capacitor within proper lvl. Then we got "changes" in propulsion and lost speed (with afterburner) or sig/cap (with mwd). Cap penalty hurts ceptors especially, cos now it's so easy to nosf them with large nosferatu, and suck all cap with 1 cycle. If we calculate all cap needs for scrambling, speed boost, weapons, and repairer, or even just with mwd+20km scrambler (when tackling only) we'll find that cap is going down too fast, and the fact is after cap finishes ceptors becomes very easy to kill. And now we have drone changes, where heavy drones got tracking speed boost, new missiles with high sig resolution, which makes tackling ceptors nothing else, than flying coffins. All time that i'm playing EVE (it's barely 2 years)i see nerfbait that beats ceptors. What can i say now? You did bad work CCP, I've allways been fan of ceptors, i switched crow for crusader when propulsion changes has come, and now seems i will drop flying ceptors.

CCP's awnser to all that are interdictors. They're essentially tech III tackler frigates or tech II interceptors, depending on how you look at it.
Since they don't share the RoF penalty of T1 Destroyers and have higher base speeds aswell as more base hull/armor/shield than Interceptors I imagine they will become the dominant frigate class, even outdamaging AF's.
I believe a boost to interceptor signature radius reduction per skill level aswell as giving AF their fourth bonus is in order.

almost every1 uses a weber wich is the ceptors worst enemy, so ceptors have been useless in pvp for sometime now.

interdictor's defence, speed and sig are making them very fragile. and they cannot be tacklers or solo hunters as ceptors, and thay are designed to beat ceptors in crap too.

interdictor is a super ceptor like a HAC is a super assfrig.
why do you think they can't be tacklers? they're fast enough, and the entire point of the ship being implemented is so you can tackle entire fleets with the scramble probes.

I stopped reading at "tracking speed boost". It got nerfed, not boosted. To be perfectly honest, what do you eexpect? It might be T2 but it's still only a frig.

Yeah but it's a frig that can cost approx 10mil isk and if it can't live long enough to do it's job in ops anymore what's the point in having one?
I'm not going to cry that it's the end of the world yet but with some of the new changes I've heard about I'm worried that my long term career as an inty pilot is coming to an end.
Will give it a month or so and see how drastic the changes are.

well... try to tackle entire fleets and i will see how long will you live there on interdictor.

hmm, afaik interdictor is like a t2 destroyer which means its gonna be killin frigs not tackling, and a HAC is not a super ass frig.
And its probably still true but before the patch interceptors were the best form of pvp ship for quickly locking down and killing targets,
you could take a lot of chances in an interceptor without any fear of losing too much isk.

I keep reading higher sig resolution, but you do realise that the sig radius of the drones' guns was increased right? Therefore doing less damage to frigates, and especially interceptors. Besides, interceptors shouldn't have much physical defence. That's the role of assault frigs. Interceptors are small fast damage dealers or tacklers, and they still achieve this role well. I really don't see what your problem is.

hopefully long enough for ceptors and T1 frigs to tackle some of them before you get blown up by everyone's drones.
or have a bunch of them go in at once and spam scramble probes. a lone ship performing such an important task will get shot real fast.

Not sure what I think on this - I kinda agree, my crow certainly is little more than a really fast, really expensive shuttle these days - but inty piloting has always been a bit of a suicide trade anyway - I'll keep flying them into combat when needed, but I'll never go into a battle in an inty expecting to emerge the other side in anything other than a pod (or cloning station if I'm too slow! =] ).
I'm more concerned at the general nerfbat waving over EVERYTHING - ages ago those amarr laser got nerfed, since that EW's been nerfed, missiles have been nerfed, Drones have been nerfed (I know there's an argument they haven't been, but for everyone with less than drone interfacing level 5, they have been - my alt's rupture used to have 6 drones, now it has 3 and with drone interfacing 1 which was enough to fly the 6 drones, I now get the damage of 3.6 drones, so it's a nerf), oversizing is nerfed, the list goes on... All races are feeling the effects for sure.
I can't complain about the "unfairness" of nerfing - as I said myself we all feel it, so it's equal for everyone - but why can't we have improvements instead? (i.e if "x" is too good and unbalanced why not make "y" and "z" BETTER to compensate rather than take away from those who have dedicated time to training "x"?
Did I derail this thread enough yet?? =]

And the only reason its 10 mill is because its a small part of the over inflated tech 2 market. Get yourself the BPO, and you'll realise it doesn't cost anywhere near that to produce... ___________

There in lies the problem, getting a tech 2 bpo, with the added problem of getting the isk to buy one as well

well, you have to admit... a mwd orbiting ceptor used to be nearly invincable to a bs. Bow, if you fly one, you take a risk... unlike before. Which is the way it should be.

tbh I have always felt ceptors should get a tackling bonus in place of 1 dmg bonus. To me, dmg dealing should be done by af's or destroyers with ceptors having average dmg but good cap abilities for tackling. Perhaps even a bonus to tackling strength.
As for RMR changes, not much has changed other than the hitpoint increase and some signature changes, heavy drones had a tracking nerf not boost btw. Though remains to be seen how effective EWAR drones will be, I can imagine some fun uses for webbing drones or nos'ing drones.

my thought exactly, give them range bonuses and or strength bonuses to propulsion jamming. Take away the dmg.

Edited by: Maya Rkell on 18/12/2005 17:28:42 Hakera? Give the Claw a tackling bonus and I'd laugh and trash mine. Make 4 tackle/4 kill allready. Unless you completely revise the entire class with a deacent number of midslots, you're not going to get the effect...
PS, interdictors cannot take the place of an interceptor. They have ~*3 the sig radius and are much heavier, and will be killed easily by long range turret fire.
Warning: above post may contain traces of sarcasm.

I think interceptors are still useful in PvP. Small, cute, fast and agile is the theme. ----------------

really think the ceptors need a cap boost...
my ranis gets like 225 cap (cant remember exacly) after i put on the MWD...
since the ceptors needs its mids for tackling and the lows for tank that dosnt really leave much for the cap mods...
really dont think 100 more base-cap is gona overpower then ____________ The cargo bay is overloaded and cannot be made to fit Expanded Cargohold I. It is currently only capable of fitting 8772.12 units and it is currently jammed full with 9558.33 units. |

Is it just me, or does anyone else think interceptors should should actually be used for ummm.. "intercepting"? As in taking down the T1 frigs coming to lock down your fleet?
Seems to me that a lot of people use them as elite tacklers now - which may be why CCP is trying to breath some life back into T1 ships.

OH jesus.
What are you guys using your intys for? Killing BSs and cruisers solo? They aren't meant for that! They are meant for speed and locking targets down.
Now, doing that and killing the target yourself is NOT meant to be the interceptors purpose. It is meant to go along with a group/fleet to lock a target down so the real fighters can kill it.
Now your complaining about it getting reduced combat ability. So what?! It is a super fast frig with some added medium slots, and that is pretty much it. If I had an executioner or kestrel with another medium slot and low slot I could do the same thing that an inty could.
I don't know about you, but I am willing to pay the extra isk for those bonus slots and added speed. I also am willing to pay for a ship that specializes in tackling and maneuvering. I don't know what you are paying for, but I don't think you will get it.
You are complaining about inty's being drained by Heavy NOS too easy? WELL NO FEKKING DUH!! Do you want the NOS to just bounce off the ship?! Heavy NOS has the same range as a 20km scrambler, so any ship would be hit by those things. Its unfortunate, yes, boohoo. You can't blame CCP for people being prepared!
They get killed to quickly? THEY ARE FRIGS! Compared to a BS, they are wads of flying tissue paper. Unless you increase their HP by a multiplyer of 100, they will still be weak!
If you ask me, you should be more worried about price inflation now that NPCs are easyer, high bounty spawns and good loot are more frequent.
