Edited by: Lucas De'Thal on 17/08/2003 08:29:40 Edited by: Lucas De'Thal on 17/08/2003 08:24:41 Ok, i've done several test of this already. The copy time is no longer a set amount of time. It also depends on the production limit set for it. Here is an example.
Antimatter M ammo. It's max production limit is 1500 runs. It takes approximatley 1 hour to make 1 copy (3600 sec). Now if you only set it to 1 run productin limit. It takes only 2 seconds to make 1 copy. (3600 sec/1500 runs) = 2 sec copy time)
Basically, you take the copy time (in seconds)of the science level of the person copying and divide by the max limit of that particular blueprint to get you the time in seconds it takes to copy for 1 production run.
What does this mean? Well, those people who say they won't sell you a 1 run battlship copy because it takes 6 to 7 days is WRONG
an armageddon copy set at 1 production run made with science lv 5 takes about 10 hours for a copy to be made.
that's the lesson for today. thank you class.
edit:
sorry, made a slight mis calculation . the max production for battleship lv1 copies is 10 and not 15 as I have used. So at science lv5, it takes approx. 15 hours to copy for a 1 run production. ______________________________________________ Hellmar > sorry for the attitude, playing a n00b character through the current state just left me a bit bitter dev chat: Mar 18, 2004

yes, it's one thing CCP had the foresight to make right. Good job to CCP on this. ______________________________________________ Hellmar > sorry for the attitude, playing a n00b character through the current state just left me a bit bitter dev chat: Mar 18, 2004

Edited by: Tnelyos on 16/08/2003 22:52:17 i don't think many people have fully realized the implications of the new changes. take a look at this thread, for example:
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=26297 there isn't even any interest in the new BPCs yet.

I've found copy times to be proportional based on the number of licensed runs. So, previously an unlimited Armageddon copy would take a Science 4 guy 160 hours to copy it now takes the same 160 hours to make a 10 (max) license copy version. But if you make 1/10th the license count, i.e. 1, then it takes 16 hours to copy.

i was running on the number 15max to get that 10 hours. if it's 10 max then at science lv5, total copy time would be 15 hours.
thanks for the correction. ______________________________________________ Hellmar > sorry for the attitude, playing a n00b character through the current state just left me a bit bitter dev chat: Mar 18, 2004

KIA Corp was really looking forward to buying a scorp BP Copy, for 8-10 units, for about 100 million.
Since the patch though, these sort of deals just haven't been available.
Why? is the question we are asking ourselves, 100 million for 8 units, thats 13 million per unit, not a bad deal considering its the same as a BYOO deal.
The reason it is, it would seem, is it takes 7 days or summin to create a copy that makes max units, people arent willing to put their bp copy out of action for this long, and rightly so.
Copying of big bps business looks to be pretty dead, whilst this will no doubts re balance the market, and create a lot more trade in bs etc, it does leave the smaller corps, with little option than to buy not build.
That said, it costs 45 million to build a scorp, add 13 to that for per unit basis of buying a scorp bp copy, and your only 2 mill off what you can buy a scorp for anyway.
CCP seem to have got it roughly right, time will tell though i spose.
Seemed to have rambled myself from being ****ed off that we couldnt get a copy, to actually thining it aint so bad :)
Of course if anyone wants to sell us a copy of a Scorp bp, for 8 - 10 units build, gimme a shout in game :)

this is the funny thing. Most of the battleship producers would have known about the upcoming patch and probably made as many bp copies as they could.
I know they didn't sell them because you didn't see that many copies going up for sell.
Most likely, they are just sitting on the originals. Frankly, i think it's less hassle to just sell copies. no minreals to worry about, no factory slot, no nothing. just reasearch and sell. easy, simple, you make money.
go figure. ______________________________________________ Hellmar > sorry for the attitude, playing a n00b character through the current state just left me a bit bitter dev chat: Mar 18, 2004

Has anybody the numbers how long it actually takes to make a BPC(lim 1) compared to build that ship ?
As long it takes less time to build a ship, no one with a single BS-BP will copy it - you are more interested in selling as much as u can trade&produce; if copy time is less then building (and ofc BP owner realizes this) there will be more limited BPC available.
If you are a BP owner and made an unlimited BPC you still can sell from factoring on BPC and copying limited from original...

Not necessarily true. Obtaining minerals for a BS can be quite a pain in the ass. :) But still, 15 hours for a 1-run copy when the ship can be built in 6 hours is not good.
Still, a big problem is that copy runs begun before the patch are still unlimited.
This includes if you set a BS BP to produce 100 copies - Even though copy 2 starts after the patch, apparently it will be unlimited. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |
