Hi everyone,
The first Buddy Program Raffle is now over and the winners have been notified by e-mail. Check out the Buddy Page for January¦s great prizes. From here on all current players whose buddies have become subscribers in the six preceding months will be included in the raffle.

I've been playing since about an hour after the patch was rolled out, with absolutely NO problems other than a little lag here and there (which mostly cleared up after the hotfix was applied). Since there's roughly 20,000 people playing the game at peak hour now, and only about 50 of you are *****ing about unplayability, I'd guess the problem lies on your side? Re-install the client perhaps?
No flames, just pointing out that the patch seems to be working just fine for the vast majority. And getting a little tired of seeing this company drug through the mud when they've put out a very ambitious patch that has increased my interest in the game tremendously -- a feat which is counterintuitive to the way most MMORPG management run their game after 2.5 years. Origin Systems (Ultima Online) was well into a carebear-coddling, pull-all-punches mindset by this time in their development.
We've really got it pretty good here. Don't underestimate the effect that negative comments have on the spirit and enthusiasm of the developers -- they're human too, and it's tough to hear that you're doing everything wrong and made of mess of things... especially when it's not true.[/end soapbox rant]

It is a good thing that there isn't. Props to CCP for listening to a significant proportion of their customers regarding this issue. Well Done!

Edited by: Doctor Draw on 20/12/2005 12:45:50 I hope you return to in-game prizes. Our corporation has recruited 100+ subscribers to the game through the buddy raffle and it would be nice to see a prize that could benefit the entire corporation.

I suggest you make a new thread if you want to have a ig vs oog prize discussion. I'd still like to get my question answered tho =)

Will we return to in game prizes? Future prizes have not been decided but you will see a mixture of in game prizes and out of game prizes.

Thank you for reconsidering the reward of in-game prizes issue that was discussed a few weeks back. I for one appreciate the responsiveness to this. __________

A question about the raffle:
Once the three winners are selected, does everyone else who contributed referrals have their credit erased, or do their referrals count for future drawings even though they didn't win that one? I think I sent out a hundred of the damn things in the last month, and if all that was for naught, then I'm really not motivated to do it any more.

1) Is the buddy program broken? I've tried sending a key 3 times to a friend of mine, and twice to myself, and only one of those got through (one of the two I sent to my alternate email address).
2) As I understand it, you don't get raffle tickets for simply sending buddy program keys, but for people who actually start p(l)aying the game. Have you really lured hundreds of new, _paying_ customers into the game? (It has to be paying customers, otherwise people would just send hundreds of keys to their own alternate email addresses...)

I have the same problem. A official word about this would be cool. I have a friend who wants to try eve during the holidays

Looks like Gamershell's free trial (https://secure.eve-online.com/ft/?sk=GHELL) is no longer working, either. Friend of mine just tried subscribing for the game, but received no email.
HELLO CCP, POTENTIAL NEW CUSTOMERS AREN'T GETTING IN! (and damn, I'm not getting raffle tickets.:( )
This needs fixing week before yesterday.

Wouldn't this prove unfair because of all the macroers with 10 accounts?

Is this the same friend that didn't get your buddy program emails either? - sounds like an adelphia.net user to me...or some other kind of auto-generated-spam-filter....but I'm no technicain - Oh Wait! I am... :¼)

Nah, his 2nd attempt using the Gamershell free trial page finally gave him the free trial code, it just took an hour for the email to arrive. Which sounds a bit odd.
And of course I'm out a raffle ticket if he decides to start paying.

I don't think you get a notification.
Hmph. Now my friend has decided that he likes the game and will start paying for it, and I'm out a raffle ticket, because the system didn't work, and he used the free trial instead.
<- not happy.
(not that I ever win anything but ballpoint pens in raffles, anyway, but it's nice to dream)

Most people are find the free trials on other sites like mmorpg.com so I don't really see the point. -
