You need to post more info on what you want Inked.
Don't just go to a local tattooist because you hear they are good, pick a tattooist that is best at the genre you are seeking.

Just something like the faction symbols. Nothing epic, but it has to be neat and sharp.

Definitely true this, and I was remiss in saying so myself, even though I do stand by my recommendations.
However always meet the artist to see if you AND they are both comfortable doing what you want.
Let them talk about design options and don't rule things out, because THEY ARE the artist.
Check the studio, and check the autoclave.
If it's not clean as a studio, walk away.
If you feel uncomfortable, walk away.
If the ARTIST feels uncomfortable, walk away.
Check for PTAA registration.
