Edited by: Lorah on 19/12/2005 17:07:54 I dont really mean for this to turn into a full blown gripe post, but it probably will, so...
Just want to say that the stasis web is quite possibly the worst item available in Eve. It seriously needs to be removed from the game. It gives large ships a massivly unfair advantage against smaller ships, and makes fitting blasters on a smaller ship suicidal.
If a large ship needs to defend itself against a smaller, more agile foe, it needs to either carry smaller calibur weapons, or have an escort ship. This is historically accurate, realistic, and will balance gameplay.
The winner of any conflict should not automatically go to the person with the biggest ship.

unfair doesn't enter into it. It's just unrealistic.
If you want to slow a ship down, there should be a way to target your opponents engines.

Maybe people who have real issues with webbers should stay out of range of being webbed. Might be unavoidable when facing firgate tacklers, but if you decide to move up on a large ship because they only way you have to beat it is close and fast, you have every right to be webbed.
And very rarely is any win garunteed because someone has a larger ship. You should be prepared with more than one tactic than close and fast. After all, how historically accurate is it for a dingy with a machine gun to sink a carrier simply because someone decided to put a big engine on it?
Your solution.. Practice some actual combat tactics. Experiement with different setups for different size ships. When one item makes you cry, don't cry about it, learn how to circumvent it.

Any interceptor can almost always get out of range fast enough to drop the web (you still do > 1km/s unless you face a 95% web or multiple webs), and chances are good for mwd frigates, too. You just have to step aside from the "orbit at ..." tactics.
On a 1 vs 1, the smaller ship is supposed to loose.
Ganking a big ship with a lot of smaller ones is pretty successfull - even more with sensor jamming involved (no lock, no web).
In a fleet battle, the big ship is unlikely to lock and web small tacklers - it has to keep hitting its primary target and should have support around to deal with them.

The only problem I have with the web is that there is no longer any counter to it... you can fit 5 webs, but even if you wanted to, you cant fit 5 MWDs... this means anyone capable of running two webs can completely stop you, regardless of your fitting.
(yeah yeah ECM... but that's a different thing... I mean a direct counter) --
