Not really EVE related, but it's made by SOE so I'm sure the game will be balanced.... then they'll unnecessarily buff something because players whined. You should be notified if someone quotes your post so you can continue the argument! |

SOE's president, John Smedley, plays Eve. Just putting it out there.
Aesthetics/basic gameplay aside, the tech behind that game is revolutionary for a AAA MMO. The Minecraft element alone will be jawdropping once it gets going. |

The announced features looks promising. We will see how they can deliver and how many of those are just empty promises. I wish I could like fantasy mmos once again but they are all the same and I'm so effin tired of all. |

Everquest was my first on line MMO, back before they added the cat folk, the lizard folk and before they decided the frog folk should be player characters.
It was back before they started up the tutorial that skips the first ten levels of play.
And that's why I stopped playing. There was no longer anybody to team with in places like the great faedark and crunchbone castle and i liked to run low level healers and bards

Looked mildly interesting, but hardly the complete redefinition of MMOs they were touting. The emergent AI idea where NPCs react to general trends could be fun though (and is something CCP should be taking a close look at for Eve). Titans were never meant to be "cost effective", its a huge ****.-á- CCP Oveur, 2006

I like the destructibility, the build tools and especially the AI concept. Finally MMOs walk away more and more from static worlds. Perhaps the next next will be real real good.
The characters... The human wizard made me think Bioshock Infinite first and Disney second.
Then came the Lion guy, which boosted Disney to place one.
So... Thanks OP!

I believe main purpose of this graphics and the game itself is to snatch millions of WoW ex-players who leave "original WoW" in droves (almost 4 millions just during last 6 months). "WoW Next" could be much more suitable title for the game. |

I'd say it works well: even after this exodus WoW has ~16 times more players than EVE and amount of players who left decreased by 80% during previous quarter (3.5mil vs 700k) so it's almost stabilized. Not bad for a game with ancient graphics engine and subscription fee. |

how many more wow has than eve is irrelevant, they appeal to separate demographics.
when your players start leaving in droves rather than having a steady increase in subscriber numbers for a decade... i doubt "pretty well" is how i'd describe it. |

There is really nothing at all about this that I find interesting. The Elder Scrolls Online game slated for release next year looks to be far more cutting-edge in terms of tech and gameplay, and the playable races in that game at least offer same variation on the tired old Tolkienesqe elfdwarfhuman theme. I hope that it does not fall short of my expectations, as nearly all these new releases do.
We'll see. In the meantime, spaceships.

Emergent AI would be great for EVE:
Day 1: Guristas fly around Null Sec Day 2: Guristas boss sends some elite troops... Day is declared National Holiday and bragging posts bring GD Forum down. Day 3: Guristas have moved to High Sec. High Sec MRs jubilate. Guristas happy too, as all their pirate bros are here. Have pirate reunion party of the millenium. Day 4: Guristas boss sends some elite troops...

Just want to note: WoW is a EQ clone.
So the appropiate precedence is "every game looks like WoW which looked like EQ".
Aside of that, Fantasy MMO are not my piece of cake (bar GW 2, which is just too pretty to dismiss) and i certainly keep waiting for someone to develop a good SF MMO, preferably not based upon some lame audiovisual franchise. CCP Unifex: -á"lurking single players (...)-áare the majority of characters on Tranquility"
...And so now we know why CCP hasn't done anything for soloers since Apochrypha. |

EQN actually looks very promising. If it plays its cards right it might actually be the first real -snipped so i dont jinx it-.
By the way, just a few days before the reveal Blizzard pretty much came out and said it started from scratch with Titan. I wonder why.

This and the art style is what keeps me back from being pretty hyped about the game. The other features sounds awesome though so I don't doubt for a second that I will at least try it out. |
