Well i cant figure this out, i tried to enter this one station and all i get is a black screen. I can see my mouse icon and move it to the exit area and still nothing happens. I reboot the computer and this does not fix it.I tried playing a different game and it runs fine. Please help me before i cancel my subscription... [email protected]

i have the same problem....noone seems to know what would help..tried to empty cache..reinstall etc

Here's what I did:
Switched for full screen to windowed screen. During the switch, the exit button appear during like 1 sec. Just had time to press it. It exit the station. PRoblem was with the station. So I avoided completly this station, finded another system and continue to play.

i fixed my black screen issue by simply deleting prefs.ini and start over with a fresh one.

I had this problem and since I'm a debugger at heart I tried several things. When changing from full screen to windowed mode I got an exception window with some cryptic text about an open tag.
By checking my error log it contained text that I was able to trace back to a corporation's general discription as displayed in the office listing. The text appeared to be valid 1.0 HTML but with a truncated text formatting section at the end.
By deleting your prefs.ini file you reset the default item to be displayed in the station window to guests vs. offices so the corrupt office text is not sent to your in-game browser.
I shall not name the corp involved, since I communicated the problem to the corp webmaster & the corp summary was repaired.

I get the same crap... enter a station... see all black. Change screen resolution, you see the station, then in 2 seconds, display fades to complete black.
The System Error reported is:
Exception #51 logged at 8/21/2003 12:17:58 am
RuntimeError ('OpenTag', ('>>> Not Accepting without References <<<', '<<<'))
WTF... i need to go that station, my agent is in there!!

here comes a solve, who will work
a little explain at the first:
- you are not crashed, the game is still "allright"
- it's only the station's grafic's who are "borked", so, your only problem is, to leave the station again
the solve:
- log in, and go to the settings
- define a shortcut for leaving the station
- log in, until you are in the station (aka. in the black)
- undock, using your shortcut
a little advice at the end, dont dock again, it will need some day's, until this station (sometimes a whole system) will be fixed

I just cleared my prefs.ini and it worked.
then after I did that my petition was answered, and i was moved to a different station, lol
