Edited by: Macro Slasher on 20/12/2005 21:05:05 No one forces you to play their game. Both sides can win or lose, depending on their tactics. Just get your friends in. At last CCP made stealing really genuinely interesting. Everything that promotes those two things, teamwork and tactics, is woot!
Also gave us new ways to obliterate the chinese isk farmers!
It's the best feature of RMR!
The kids will learn after couple times, don't worry. The initial madness will level soon.

How about flying to station every once in a while. Sssheesh. Why everyone wants a button ftw? I want a button that adds 100 million to my account every time I press it damnit! I don't want to work anymore!
Originally by: Elric Adder But the bigger issue was not ore theft...
Ore theft was never an issue. It was just right to the dumb miners. And always will be. It's natural selection and very good to have in game. If nothing else it by time forces people to move along.

Yes, and after he read it and clicked on cancel he is killed anyway, because that system is bugged the same way as this complete crappy patch!
??? I've pressed "cancel" myself and it has worked as supposed. I haven't been flagged for that.

The attitude of many in EVE is "I do it because I can and it is your own fault". These are the same folks that believe the person raped is at fault, not the rapist. These are also the same people who vehemently attack others in the forums when this topic is discussed. Why? They feel threatened that one of the few remaining online griefing bastions is being questioned.
Don't compare with raping. The problem here is that some people shout that extremely miniscule things are OMGWTFGRIEFING. I agree that in the end everyone should have fun and there's this line after which something becomes griefing.
It isn't however some silly little casual pirating, thievery or even picking a fight. Constant one with impossible odds to the targets (plain abusing) or abusing someone with extreme skill/wealth level differences, .. That is.
But if you give some silly voting powers to retards a lot of the out voted people have not crossed the line. They are more like spitting on the floor, not raping.

Yes, I read it. You said you clicked cancel and got still flagged. It's a bug, should be just fixed. It doesn't mean the idea of the system is really flawed itself.
Or then you didn't click cancel and you just deserved what you had coming, mining in some central hub in safe space and other stuff.

Originally by: csebal That some people are abusing the protection is no different from when people were abusing tanking to gank people where they normally shouldnt. It is called exploiting of in-game mechanics. You read right: IN GAME MECHANICS, meaning that it is part of the game, yet it is not allowed to be used in certain ways.
Lock on. Fire. BOOM. That's pretty solid IN GAME MECHANICS to me. They give us features. They come without instructions or new lines into some silly EULA. Learn to live with that.
It happens all the time for instance battleships have never been meant to be flown alone. Most of the deadspace complexes have not been meant to be soloable. We could list here thousands of things that were not meant to be... Escrow wasn't meant to be used for trading! Actually, I hear jetcans were not meant to be used in mining either. OMG. ABUSERS! Ban them!
Get my point? They might mean to push us to directions but we have no silly obligation to agree and comply. Otherwise CCP could just play their silly little game all by themselves and have fun with the 20 players it would have.

b. Uses role-playing as an excuse for violating the guidelines regarding fair play with others.

g. Engages in griefplay tactics which may include, but are not limited to, market/courier exploits.
Griefplay is constant, often targeted, abusive by vast skill etc differences etc.. True, if some HAC starts blowing up newbies at Kisogo, it is griefplay. But removing the possibility to it is not an answer because the same mechanic used in many other places would not be griefplay. It's not the mechanic's fault in that way. It doesn't have to be removed. Nor should. It just needs some tiny tweaking.

I was not able to dig up the 'fair play' policy mentioned, but by my book, luring noobs into death traps by offering them free stuff is both griefing and exploiting of existing in-game mechanics, and is in no way 'fair play'. If thats not rules enough for ya, then i don't know what.
I have to agree in that specific case.

We are not talking about bugs here. The system works usually as CCP meant it to work. Wether it is good or not is another issue. But not a bug.

It was said elsewhere (by Oveur?) that the font issue will be looked on. It will require a client side patch
That might be a perfect spot for the CCP to lure in couple tiny tweaks. I'd settle in for the unmarking + new 30 second tutorial clip for newbies trying to open the cans.

What I really can't understand is that from where they dig the twisted false assumption that the good is supposed to win? A lot of people seem to have that and I think they should have their heads fixed.
