Start with some of the smaller items for beginning runs such as water, frozen food/seeds, etc. You can then migrate to holoreels and then after that, you'll need to keep monitoring the market for the best item when you have good seed money.

What do you need in order to transport frozen goods and radioactives and such? I tried to carry some recently and was told I could not carry the frozen foods without special containers.

There is another item you might trade silicon. I mention silicon because it is relatively cheap and occupies .5 m3. Either mine omber in a high security area for a bit or do some agent missions. Either way will give you some capital to start.
There are typically three supply prices for silicon and three demand prices.
Supply prices are 282 (the dont bother price), 266 (the normal price), and 250 (the best price).
The demand prices are 274, 291, and 309.
When I have looked for it I have always found a place that sells silicon for 250 and at least one that buys at 309. However it may not be worth your time to look. Simply chose a short route and a fast ship. While it is hard to be specific about places to buy and sell I can say that typically Caldari space almost always has good demand. Supply will be found either in Caldari space or more likely along the super highway which touches most regions.
Starting out as a trader is a major pain as it does not seem like you are makeing much headway. It does get easier and faster. I have made more than 5M isk in a day just tradeing silicon. Good luck and I hope this helped.

Must be a recent change then 'cause I carried radioactive goods in the regular hold way back when, try regular containers, they don't cost that much.
