Doing Retribution, level 3 mission, from an amarr agent. useing 5 heavy drones of varying damage types. I've been killing 110k rats with no problems, but for some ungodly reason these Bezerkers will not die. I left 5 drones on them for 15 minutes and they tanked out my drones. Ok, no big deal, ships can do that. but this is a 25k bounty frigate?? what the *)($???? I tried several things, but the best i did was get about 50% into thier hull, at which point my drones apparently ran out of ammo because the Bezerker was regaining shields. I even hit that npc with 7 heavy nos's. still would not die. Someone care to explain how a tier 2 battleship cant kill at 25k bounty frigate?
thanks.

Drones have turrets too hence a large gunned turret v an inty/frig would have as much problem as your BS attempting to do the same thing.
Hence npcers tend to use a mixture of drones, med/light for the small stuff and heavy for the bigger rats.

Edited by: DriveCrash on 20/12/2005 23:44:10 Ok, that would make sense if i was having trouble killing any other frigates. 30k frigs, 17k frigs, whatever, they go boom fast. it is JUST this one type of frigate that refuses to die. Even with Direct small turrent fire and assult missle launchers off a raven, it was tanking better than any 150k cruiser i've ever seen.
*edit - And if its supposed to be THAT tough to kill, I think the bounty might need to go up just a tad.

Hello
I had simmilair problem but with "Angel Vipers". It was in Angel Extravaganza level 3 mission. 2 days ago i had no problems to pop em, but from yesterday they simply wont die. I am in Raven, after locking Viper, I web him, target paint him, have 2 heavy NOS, 3 heavy drones, 6 cruise launchers, at him and he still shield tank as hell. I need 15 minutes and approx 250 of (among everything else I mentioned) cruise missiles to take this rat downn.
OK he is small rat and I am in BS, and cruises are not good against smaller vessels, but I cap drained, webbed, targetpainted, and sent 3 heavy drones at him, so what is too much is too much. Nobody can tank that much.
And I think that some webber frigates are bugged Bcose they target me uppon I fire at them but not approach fast, they are just comming very very slow towards me... strange...
Resime: 2 days ago everything was OK, but from yesterday...

exsactly the problem i'm was dealing with. they both had a top speed of 25m/s. extremely slow for a frigate. they weren't armor tanking so that doesn't explain the speed thing, they were shield tanking. This is really a problem that needs addressed.

First question would be, why use cruise missiles on a level III mission? No level III mission has anything you need a cruise missile for. I use heavy missiles and have never had a problem taking down anything in a level III mission. Fact is if you have the skills a Heavy will do just as much or more damage to a cruiser or frig than a cruise missile. Also try using med drones. 5 Med drones will cut through frigs or cruisers in very short order.
I will agree that some of the Webbers/Jammers seem to have unlimited cap, but jamming them does work. Bottem line is, use heavies you will find that they die faster than with cruise missiles. I even use heavies on some level IV missions and kill BS with them.
If what your using doesnt work, try something else. Get an account on the test server and try different things on it. All things are 100 ISK each so buy 10 BS and try diff things.
Good luck -------------------------------------------------- You wouldn't shoot an old man would you? |

I posted about this problem already, but got no reply. In my case it was a 25k frigate, but the orgres I was using could not hit it at all when orbiting it. It was actually stationary for some reason some of the npc's did not agress me and statyed still. Surely they should be able to hit a non moving target. Oh wait the could but only when approaching the target. So I had to reacall the drones and send them back and forth. Problem was they are orbiting too fast with the new drone navigation skill and can't track at their own speed. It needs fixed.

had the same problem with ogres. i figured it had to do with some tracking issue and switched to wasps. now there is no problem any more.
