Hi guys, I know this may sound stupid but I get "capacitor empty" messages even if the capacitor is at 95%! I have a cross-type indicator for the capacitor and whenever the upper "leaf" gets drained I get that message and I can't use my modules. What am I doing wrong?

Not sure what this is tbh.
Click on the little triangle on the right hand side of the panel and select 'show readouts' to make sure it's not a grahics bug. Other than that, can only think of you maybe getting something wrong.
Sure it says 'capacitor empty'? You can't, for instance, online a module unless you've got 95 percent cap left but that's onlining from 'offline' i.e. not on the grid. That's not the same as clicking on a module to activate it.
Go to a station, click on the fittings tab and make sure that all modules are online showing a little green light. All red lights are modules that are offline and unusable unless you put them online.
You should really be able to activate each green module a few times.
Hope you solve it.

Hm.... very strange. I just tried to activate my shield booster just outside the station and it worked (I mean I could deplete ALL the capacitor energy). I will try again in a battle, because there is where I really need this to work and.... well, it didn't so far .

Nope... the message says that I need 20 units of energy and I have 15 even if the capacitor indicator says 150. Is this a bug of some sort?

Maybe thats a Power Grid issue, not a cap issue?

I'm pretty new, so this may not be 100% correct (I am sure someone else can double-check things for me). Anyhow ...
Items can be online/offline as well as active/inactive. An item that is online can be activated (used) as long as you have energy. An item that is offline cannot be activated ... think of it as powered down yet still fitted to the ship.
Your Shield Booster should be online and inactive before you enter combat. When you want to use it, it should take the 20 energy units from your capacitor to recharge your shields.
If you are flying about in safe areas of space and need the extra CPU or power grid space, then you can put your booster offline, but if you need to get it back online you will need to have 95% of your capacitor's power to bring the module online, and then you will need another 20 energy to make it active (IE: you probably can't put the unit online and then activate it until your capacitor recharges a bit).

What setup are you using? ie ship and modules.

Whats happening is that your client is becoming out of synch with the server. I think its something to do with a your computer clock running badly, possibly due to a low motherboard battery.
Either way, installing clockmon should fix it.

Yeah, thats a known issue with n-force based mainboards. The clock of them cause a lot of headache. --- All my statements are my personal opinion. I am not speaking on behalf of any entity, corp or alliance in this forums. |

This hits the nail on the head a dev responded a few months back and said it is indeed a know issue with Nf II based motherboards. A few things you can do to try to fix it.
1. Try the Clockmon program as suggested it works for some
2. Change the battery in your MB
3. Try to reset the MB by removing the battery and replacing it 30 sec afterword
I have tried all of these and they have never worked. It seems to be hit and miss it worked fine the past couple weeks and then has reoccured since the RMR patch. It sucks, but for some reason seems to fix itself after a few weeks everytime it starts happening to me. I'm not sure if it is from server side hotfixes by the devs or just something that my comp does on it's own.

Edited by: MoonStorm on 22/12/2005 09:39:30 It's true I have a nForce2 motherboard. But the clock is "right on time" so no need of ClockMon. I don't remember the last time I set it. It works perfectly. But I trully believe it's an out of synch issue, because as I was saying, this happens only in battles and not all the time.

Hi Guys
I have had the same problem on and off for some time now . I've tried ClockMon, replacing motherboard battery and setup Windows clock to use time.nist.gov internet time server which is checked every hour. But none of these seem to work.
I do have a nforce2 motherboard so maybe its that, they just dont keep good time.
Would be nice to hear some feedback/solutions from the Dev's. Or is it down to us to buy new motherboards.
Can any one surrgested a good motherboard? I'm using a AMD Athlon XP 2200 CPU.
