What is the point spawning hollow roids the size of rabbit pellets? What does it accomplish? Just makes the game that less intereresting. I usually take off a couple days and play Galaxies. Then come back to see if the roids are back.

I'm going to agree here. If it's going to spawn, spawn full. Else it's not much point in my opinion.

why not read the post on the patch forums that states how the roids respawn and refill
bascially while u mine somewhere a roid elsewhere in the galaxy fills up, yours refill when others are mined
means sweet spots cant be sweet infinitely
wrong forum for this anyway

Well I check the other forums, found nothing on mining. Still doesn't make sense to me. Seems like just another way to kill the game. Have you noticed that Eve used to average up to 6000 peeps playing during the day? Now Eve is lucky if it gets 4500. This is not a good trend for a game that wants to stick around.

Edited by: Lutok on 17/08/2003 19:56:37 I read the post in the patch forums. I understand how the respawn works. Doesn't mean I like how the system works even though thats how the sytem works. Would be nice if the system respawned a full asteroid when it's linked asteroid was mined out.
The number of players are declining in the game.

PArt of me thought,
"Well perhaps this is an effort to move people on from mining."
Then i realised
"But there's no other way to make decent money in this game if your a bog standard player".
Idiots will argue that some people have made lots of money, yea thats great but unfortunatley only the pioneers make money in the manufacturing industry...
So bounty hunting? Hmm... ok lets say if you kill 1 well known piraete with a 5mil bounty a day. Cool thats 5mil a day... but considering what it takes to kill the average pirate with 5mil on their head (i.e a battleship or two) that income is not really cost effective, especially with the dangers involved + the fact that you are not going to actually get one every night.
Ok so whats left? Trading... kinda like mining in the sense its boring and senseless. Oh yea and the market is still very much bugged.
Which brings us back to mining, one of, no the only sure way to make money in the game at momment - and despite this CCP can't even get that right.
PvP is the only reason i play this game, i can only finance my PvP exscapades b/c i made it big making moa's a bit back, your average player didn't do this.
Your average player will soon get bored, and leave.... result a bunch of elites stuck on same server.
Stale, bitter and boring is what eve will become, unless ccp sort the issue at hand out.
Sure you can make money in eve, but it has to become a 2nd occupation, something your casual gamer doesn't want, and ccp needs your casual gamer.

I agree it's totaly random.
Growth only happens in 1 spurt, and that seems to be a totaly random event. ------------------------

Actually, read the charts and it shows the average number and Max players dropping.
Unfortunately, Eve is about having Isk, otherwise there is no much else to do. You can Mine, kill Rats, Trade (has never worked), Missions (ultimate bore) or Bounty hunt.
To build up infrastructure for the time CCP starts to get it right, basically Mining, Killing Rats, or Bounty hunting.
I should add, join a big Corp that will take care of you.
If you are in this for the Exploration and other non-combat oriented aspects of MMOG play, mining is about it.
That's why I believe there are so many PvP's and a percentage in the game right now. Explorers tend to leave ( a have a couple of friends whom were here since Beta, that got fed up and left). Those that stay , try to find a way to make it work, or join a corp that will foot the bill for PvP.
Successfull MMOG's are open enough that peeps can build thier own game so to speak. There is enough variety to allow peeps to choose different paths. Right now, Eve is not fullfilling that need.
