I kept his name a secret, but it shows that the last naive person has yet to be born.
It was also apparently his first time doing a trade, and he really can thank his maker he traded with me.
Edit: The trade was for 11 million so its not chump chcange we are talking about, at least not for some.

I salute your honesty here Jack. Its important we don't take advantage of the "newbies". We need to keep them ingame so EVE is around in a few years.

An associate of mine witnessed a total stranger get his thorax podded by sentry guns after splash damage to the station during a fight. What did he do? He picked up the loot, followed the guy into the station and gave it all back to him.
Hows that for stupid...l mean nice. Wonder how many people would do that for someone they never met?

You are so right, I have nothing better to do than make up wild stories about not scamming a poor bloke that obviously did not know the game mechanis and was a tad to thrusty.
With that beeing said; To the rest of you, thanks for the kinds words, it makes it all worth it.
As for helping out the "newbies" Calladen, you are very right. I once wrote an extensive guide to Homeworld, a brilliant game. True it was not a MMO like EVE. I am currently planning on making a guide for EVE, complete with pictures and descritions of the game mechanics as they exist as of writing. It will be natuarally be updated as the game changes.
So actually, I got a few ideas myself about what should be in such a guide, but feel free to give some tips here on what you would like to see in such a guide, or think is very important as I am not omnipotent and all knowing.

Its surprising how often this happens.
Biggest deal ive had money sent up front was 57 million... the guy eve-mailed over "Ill come grab the stuff later - where are you based btw?"
Possibly my fondest memery though was in beta, i had (literally) millions of ISK sent to me by a complete stranger for no apparent reason.
I then had an eve-mail from the CEO of the guys corp saying:
"Erm Hi! - you might find this a bit odd but if you look at your wallet you might notice you are suddenly very rich.
One of our members clicked on the wrong bit of screen and sent you all of his money - i don't suppose there's anyway you could see fit to sending it back to him? He's an old guy and this is his first beta and first online game.."
Felt so sorry I sent it all back with compliments. My Corpies gave me a bit of stick but... still get a warm-glow thinking how surprised the guy was when he got his money back... and it transpired the guy WAS 60+ etc...
go figure eh

I've picked up the loot and moved it 12 jumps to a station for two total strangers so far.

What I find funny about this thread is the fact that scamming and fooling ppl in EVE is so commonplace that when you do the right thing, everybody pays attention.
Please don't get me wrong, it's wonderful what you did, but that should be the common behaviour, not an exception _______________________________________________

Ok now.. everytime anybody does something good, lets all post here so we can get platitudes from strangers. Sorry, but it doesnt impress me that you feel the need to go public with doing the right thing. A reminder to warn people about trades fine but theres no need to tell everyone how honest you are. Or is there? ************************************************ Coming Soon to a Sector near You May be hazardous to your ship so Be Warned! |

I did a simple mining tutorial in beta with about a dozen pictures you might be able to use with your guide. Has steps up thru refining. If you'd like it shoot me an email.

Or to combat the idea that everyone is out to screw over everyone else in Eve. The amount of people ripping others off in Eve is not a majority. If this was as rampant as we believe the game would fail.
The problem is nobody cares about good news. People want to hear about all the negative stuff in Eve. It's all about the bad news. When it's all said and done this thread will not nearly as many hits and replies as another discussing something negative that happened.
There needs to be more reported instinces of people not ripping others off, especially here so new players can read that Eve is not all full of out to get you dirtbags.

Thank's for the offer Vegeta, but so far my own domain should be large enough to do the trick. Otherwise I'll just have to pay for a littel extra space á

I do care. This is a bit more complex than good vs bad news. Your gov wants you to be scared about live and other things, that's why you will only watch/see bad news everywhere.
